The DMK has alleged that he tried to vote fraudulently at a polling booth in the 49th ward of the Chennai Corporation. Former AIADMK minister Jayakumar has been arrested in connection with a case in which he allegedly assaulted Pramukar Naresh, stripped him of his shirt and tied his hands.
He was subsequently charged with 2 counts of roadblocks and 3 counts of embezzlement of a Rs 5 crore fish net factory. In this context DMK had filed a petition in the I-Court as the lower court had refused to grant him bail in the case of assault on the person.
Following this, during the hearing held on the 3rd, AIADMK ex-minister Jayakumar was granted conditional bail by the Chennai High Court. The order also said that he would have to stay in Trichy and sign for 2 weeks at the Cantonment police station there.
