Not just Roman Abramovich and Chelsea. Sanctions against Russian oligarchs are increasingly affecting world football. Now, the Russian owner of Vitsa Arnham, in which Eli Desa plays, has officially announced that he will sell the shares, part with the board and leave the team.
Valerie Uiff, Which holds a controlling stake in Vitsa and most of the shares, will retire from the club and sell its share as a result of the sanctions that came due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. In the official statement, he said: “It hurts me to leave in this way, it is a difficult decision but I chose it for the sake of the club, the audience, the employees and the sponsors.”
The Russian Uyghur came to Vitsa in 2018 when Alexander Chigiransky sold him the shares in the club that he owned. One of the oligarch’s first steps, by the way, was to release Mo Allah to Maccabi Haifa, where he served as the professional manager.
The issue of his departure could affect Vitsa’s future financially as well as Dassah, as such a move, if not found who will put his hand on the club and take control of the shares, will mean that the team will have to sell players to make ends meet. The Israeli defender has a contract until the end of the current season and it is not impossible that he will leave.
Vitsa wrote in its official statement: “With the sale of the shares, a careful procedure is being carried out, so that the continuity of the club will be guaranteed, and Vitsa will be able to continue to focus on its sporting aspirations.”
