Kolkata: Australian ODI-T20 captain Aaron Finch has been named in the IPL squad. He will play for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL (IPL 2021-22) starting on the 26th of this month. Kolkata have named the Australian captain after England’s Alex Hales withdrew. Hales stepped down to avoid the hassle of living in a bio-bubble system.
Finch is a player who has played 87 IPL matches for various teams. Kolkata is his ninth IPL team. But there was no noticeable performance on the part of Finch. No team bought Finch at last month’s IPL auction.
He played for Royal Challengers Bangalore last season. Kolkata Finch, who has scored 2005 runs in 87 IPL matches at a strike rate of 127, was brought in by Kolkata Finch for a base price of Rs 1.5 crore. Kolkata will take on Chennai Super Kings in the opening match. The match will be played at Wankhede Stadium.
Former Mumbai Indians star Lasith Malinga joins Rajasthan Royals today Malinga will be the new pace bowling coach. Rajasthan Royals are preparing for the 15th season of the IPL with a strong team. Apart from Sanju Samson, the Rajasthan Royals have retained England wicketkeeper-batsman Jose Butler and young Indian opener Yashaswi Jaiswal. Sanju Samson will be the captain this season.
