Kosavapatti Jallikkattu: 40 injured, including cowboys

At least 40 people were injured in a bullfight at Kosavapatti near Dindigul on Friday.

Jallikattu competition is usually held in connection with the Kosavapatti St. Anthony’s Festival near Sanapatti, Dindigul District. Following this, 597 bulls were brought from Dindigul, Trichy, Pudukottai, Sivagangai, Madurai and Theni districts to participate in the jallikattu competition held on Friday.

After examination by the veterinary team, 593 bulls, excluding 4 bulls, were allowed into the herd. Similarly, 363 cowherds were allowed after medical examination. 20 cowboys were denied permission to participate in the competition. The competition was organized by the Dindigul District Revenue Office. Lata started. The event was attended by Dindigul Govt. Prem Kumar, Dindigul East Govt. Chandanamari Geetha and many others.

In Jallikkat, a total of 40 people were injured in the bullfight, including 15 cowherds and 13 cowboys. Five cowherds who were seriously injured were sent to the Dindigul Government Hospital for intensive treatment. The winners of the competition were presented with a variety of prizes, including gold, silver, and evacuation items.
