New York: US Vice President Kamala Harris has been criticized for blasting a question about Ukrainian refugees. During a joint press conference with Polish President Andrzej Duda in Warsaw on Thursday, Kamala Harris exploded on a journalist’s question about refugees.
“If the US is asked to accept more refugees, will the US take in Ukrainian refugees?” The journalist asked Kamala Harris. Before answering, Harris first looked to the Polish president to see if he wanted to respond. Then he replied with a loud laugh.
Duda began by responding by stating that Poland had asked Kamala Harris to help expedite consular procedures for Yukinian refugees. Kamala Harris said the two leaders discussed the burden on Poland due to the influx of Ukrainian refugees, but did not answer the question of whether the US would accept a certain number of refugees.
But on social media, criticism has been leveled against Kamala Harris that the journalist’s question should not be dismissed. One Twitter user commented, “Laughter on the stage should be suppressed when talking about a humanitarian crisis we have not seen in 80 years.” This is not the first time Harris has laughed at inappropriate situations. When asked by reporters about the Biden administration’s withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan last year, Kamala Harris responded with a laugh.
