Andrés Guschmer: Thank you for having me! It’s a pleasure to be here.
Editor: Let’s dive right in. Recently, you’ve been discussing the situation regarding Barcelona SC. They currently have a provisional legal representative. Can you elaborate on what this means for the team and their future?
Guschmer: Absolutely. Barcelona SC has entered a critical period. The provisional legal representative has 90 days to address several key areas: sporting, institutional, administrative, and electoral aspects. It’s essential to ensure that the club can return to stability and continue competing at the highest levels.
Editor: That’s a significant responsibility. You mentioned that a solution was sought and ultimately was in the hands of the FEF (Ecuadorian Football Federation). Can you clarify what role the FEF will play in this process?
Guschmer: The FEF will provide oversight and support throughout this transitional period. They will help facilitate the auditing process and ensure that everything adheres to regulatory standards. Their involvement is crucial for maintaining the integrity of the sport in our country.
Editor: Moving on to the athletes, how is the preparation for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics looking?
Guschmer: Our athletes are working diligently. The government is deeply committed to their preparation, and we are allocating resources to ensure they have the best training facilities and support. We want to ensure that every athlete representing us is well-prepared and supported.
Editor: That’s great to hear. What specific initiatives are in place to support our athletes leading up to the Olympics?
Guschmer: We have implemented several programs focused on training camps, nutrition, and mental health support. We believe that a holistic approach will not only enhance their performance but also ensure their well-being during this crucial time.
Editor: Lastly, there have been discussions about Ecuador possibly organizing the Copa América in 2028. Can you share your thoughts on this potential opportunity?
Guschmer: Hosting the Copa América would be a fantastic opportunity for Ecuador. It would not only elevate our country’s profile in international sports but also provide a significant economic boost through tourism and related activities. We are in talks to make this a reality and will work tirelessly to bring such a prestigious event to our nation.
