Biological weapons programs .. UN Security Council denies Russia’s allegations

The UN Security Council has rejected Russia’s allegations of biological weapons programs in Ukraine. India has urged all countries to abide by the Biological and Toxic Weapons Convention.

Russia’s accusation that US-backed chemical weapons are being manufactured in Ukraine has been debated at the UN Security Council. Speaking at the meeting, Russia’s ambassador to the UN noted that laboratories in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, had found evidence of hasty destruction of biological weapons, and that the project was funded by the US Security Threat Reduction Agency.

He also said that documents confirming the existence of a network of 30 biological laboratories in Ukraine were available. He warned that uncontrolled proliferation of biological weapons could affect more than half of all European countries. The UN Security Council has rejected Russia’s allegations of biological weapons programs in Ukraine.
