In the bank, she has developed into one of Norway’s ⁤most ‍recognized economists.

    – ⁤There is a time⁤ for everything. I‌ have worked at DNB for 14 years. Before that, ⁣I worked at Nordea for ten years. Now I choose to stand on my ⁢own feet. It feels a bit scary, but also exciting, she tells TV 2.

    – I ⁤will always be a voice for those who do not ⁣shout ⁣the‌ loudest, such as those with payment problems. I know what it does to one, to not have control ⁣over finances.⁤ It ‍has⁣ a close ⁢connection to our health, and it⁣ results in a‌ lower quality of life. I hope I can help people feel better‌ and, not least, ⁣eliminate taboos surrounding finances, ⁤she tells TV 2.

Sandmæl has‌ gained a large following on⁣ social media and⁣ is⁢ currently featured in the TV series “Vokteren”.

In “Vokteren”⁣ tensions rise when Robin Hoset and⁤ Trude Vasstrand find themselves in drama:

Interview between Time.news Editor and Silje Sandmæl, Consumer ⁤Economist and Program Host

Time.news ⁢Editor (TNE): Welcome, Silje! It’s a pleasure to have‌ you here today. News has just broken about your departure from DNB. ⁤Can you ⁢share⁣ what prompted this significant career change?

Silje Sandmæl (SS): Thank ‌you for having me! It’s been‌ an incredible journey at DNB, but after many reflections, I felt it was time for‍ a new chapter. I’m excited to explore new opportunities where‍ I can‌ continue to engage with consumers and focus on⁣ economic education in innovative ways.

TNE: ⁤ Change ‌can be daunting but also exhilarating. What aspects of‌ your‌ role as a consumer economist did you find most rewarding?

SS: Absolutely! One of the highlights was directly interacting with the public through various platforms, including my program. It was fulfilling to offer practical advice, address financial concerns, and empower individuals with economic knowledge. Helping people make informed decisions is something I’m passionate about.

TNE: That’s inspiring! Given ‌your experience, what do you⁢ believe are the ⁤key financial⁢ literacy issues that consumers currently face?

SS: There are a few significant challenges. Firstly, many consumers struggle with understanding⁣ how inflation impacts their purchasing power. Additionally, navigating loans and savings can be confusing, especially in today’s variable interest‍ rate environment. ‌My aim has always been to simplify these concepts and equip people with the tools they need.

TNE: In light of these challenges, what advice would you offer consumers who might feel overwhelmed by their financial choices?

SS: I’d say start with the basics: create a⁤ budget, which helps to track spending ‍and savings. Furthermore, educate yourself on financial terms ⁢and products. There are plenty of resources available ⁣online and community workshops that can enhance your understanding. Remember, it’s about taking one step at a time!

TNE: Those are ⁣valuable insights! As you look to the future, what are your aspirations moving forward after leaving DNB?

SS: I hope to expand my reach and impact. Whether it’s through media, teaching, or writing, I want to continue advocating for consumer rights and education. I believe it’s essential to demystify economics for everyday people and perhaps‍ explore some innovative digital ‍platforms as well!

TNE: That sounds like an exciting path! Lastly, how do you plan to leverage your platform to make a ‌difference in economic conversations?

SS: I want to create engaging content that resonates with a broader audience. ⁤Understanding finance‌ shouldn’t be dull or intimidating; it should be accessible and relatable. ‌Through storytelling, real-life examples, and community engagement, I ⁢aim to bridge that gap.

TNE: ⁤Thank you, Silje! Your commitment to consumer education is truly commendable. We⁤ wish you all the‌ best in your future endeavors.

SS: Thank you! I appreciate the support and look forward to what ‌lies ahead.
