Sandmæl has perhaps been the country’s most prominent consumer economist for a long time. She has, among other things, been a host on “Luksusfellen” and has been widely used in the press.
Currently, she is a reality participant in “Vokteren”.

Silje Sandmæl: Thank you for having me! It’s definitely a mix of emotions. After such a long tenure at DNB, it was a bit scary to step away, but also incredibly exciting. I felt it was time to stand on my own two feet and pursue new projects that align with my vision for personal finance education.
Editor: As one of Norway’s leading consumer economists, you’ve had an impactful career, especially with your role in “Luksusfellen.” How do you think your previous experiences have shaped your work?
Silje Sandmæl: My experiences have been invaluable. Hosting “Luksusfellen” allowed me to connect with people directly and see the real challenges they face with their finances. This firsthand knowledge has fueled my passion for helping others develop a more conscious relationship with their personal finances.
Editor: You’ve been widely recognized for your contributions to financial literacy in Norway. What do you think are the biggest challenges consumers face today?
Silje Sandmæl: One of the biggest challenges is the overwhelming amount of information available. People often find it difficult to discern sound financial advice amidst the noise. Additionally, economic fluctuations can lead to anxiety about personal finances, making financial literacy more crucial than ever.
Editor: DNB has praised your efforts in educating the public about economics. How do you plan to continue this important work in your new venture?
Silje Sandmæl: My goal is to keep reaching and educating people through various platforms—whether it’s social media, workshops, or collaborations. I want to create accessible and engaging content that demystifies personal finance and encourages proactive management of one’s finances.
