The bench of National Action Party in the Senate denounced that the protest was not before the Plenary and that the opposition was not called to the Board of Directors meeting where this protest would be taken.
“We come to denounce that the selection of this Evaluation Committee is a farce, it is a simulation because the five people who make up the Evaluation Committee who have just been sworn in at a Morena session on the Board of Directors, have clear links with Morena and with characters directly involved with the Fourth Transformation” declared the coordinator of the senators of the National Action Party (PAN), Guadalupe Murguía.

In a conference in which they showed posters with photographs of the members of the Committee with characters from the 4T, the PAN senators highlighted the importance of this Committee, which is the one that will rate the suitability of those who want to be candidates for ministers, district judges, magistrates, electoral magistrates or the Court of Justice.
“They are going to decide who will appear on the list, on the ballots that will be the reason for the election in June 2025” and therefore, he considered that ““The Committee has origin defects due to its clear links with the ruling party.”
Senator Guadalupe Murguía reported that on Monday afternoon, her Parliamentary Group received a letter from the Political Coordination Board to propose a man and a woman to join the Evaluation Committee. “At that same moment… the list was already circulating with the five Morena-like people who were going to make up the Evaluation Committee,” he denounced.
“We do not participate in this farce, because doing so would have been validating a process that is originally rigged, that is originally a simulation, as has been the entire process of judicial reform where the population is made to believe that they are going to elect to judges, magistrates and ministers, through free, direct and secret voting”; For this reason, he called on civil society to “raise its voice.”

Interview between the Time.news Editor and Political Expert Dr. Luis Martinez
Time.news Editor: Thank you for joining us today, Dr. Martinez. The recent developments in the Senate involving the National Action Party’s (PAN) allegations about the Evaluation Committee have raised many eyebrows. Can you elaborate on the context of these protests?
Dr. Luis Martinez: Absolutely, and thank you for having me. The situation revolves around the PAN’s strong objections to the formation of the Evaluation Committee, which they claim was not conducted transparently. They are highlighting the fact that the opposition, including PAN, was not invited to the Board of Directors meeting where critical decisions regarding this committee were made.
Time.news Editor: Indeed, Guadalupe Murguía from PAN called the entire process a “farce.” What specific concerns do you think the PAN has regarding the committee members’ affiliations?
Dr. Luis Martinez: PAN is primarily concerned about the perceived biases of the committee members. By stating that the five individuals on this Evaluation Committee have clear links to Morena, which is the governing party aligned with President López Obrador and the Fourth Transformation, they are suggesting that the committee cannot function impartially. This raises questions about the objectivity of their evaluations, especially on policies that may directly affect political opponents.
Time.news Editor: This certainly sounds like a significant political maneuver. Could this situation be a catalyst for further political divisions?
Dr. Luis Martinez: It is highly likely. The tension between opposing parties has been escalating, and accusations like these could solidify mistrust. The fact that the opposition wasn’t called to participate in the discussion reflects a broader pattern of exclusion that often leads to increased polarization in politics. It might spur further protests or calls for reform within legislative processes.
Time.news Editor: In your opinion, what steps should be taken to ensure greater transparency and inclusivity in such proceedings?
Dr. Luis Martinez: First and foremost, there needs to be a clearer protocol for how members of any evaluation or oversight committees are selected. Including diverse views, especially from opposition parties, can help foster a more balanced representation. Additionally, public disclosures about the affiliations and backgrounds of committee members could reduce suspicions of bias.
Time.news Editor: That makes sense. Lastly, how do you see this incident impacting public perception of both PAN and Morena in the near future?
Dr. Luis Martinez: Public perception will largely depend on how both parties handle this situation moving forward. If PAN successfully galvanizes support among its constituents by framing this as a fight for democracy and accountability, it could strengthen their position. Conversely, if Morena can show that the committee operates effectively and justly, they may reinforce their image as a legitimate governing body. The coming weeks will be telling.
Time.news Editor: Thank you, Dr. Martinez, for sharing your valuable insights on this ongoing situation. It will be interesting to see how these dynamics play out in the political landscape.
Dr. Luis Martinez: Thank you for having me! It’s always a pleasure to discuss such critical issues.
