The Congress lost assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur. In particular, the Aam Aadmi Party overthrew the Congress in Punjab for the first time.
Moreover, the Congress won only 2 constituencies in UP. Thus, the Congress party suffered a severe defeat this time.
