“I’ve been doing this art unofficially since 2008, and professionally since 2010. Since 2012, I’ve released music for numerous major companies and production houses. I create mostly techno music. In a later stage of my career, when I decided to I will dedicate my life to my development in this field, I decided to master the art of DJing. I think I have succeeded. I am glad that I have special moments in our country,” says Lyuben Bojanov about his career.
“Most people know me as MORGAN MEXX, and now HODLER is the result of over 15 years of experience and a lot of hard work. The goal of the HODLER project is to show what the art of the 60-minute DJ set is. That is, I describe the whole process, present how is done, how to mix different genres – deep house, melodic house and many others. At this stage, in this phase, the goal is to show gradation, like in this case my selections are very time consuming. I don’t choose my pieces randomly, every single piece has to be arranged and the rest is just a fine technique. I work with a French software that gives me more freedom. And let’s get to the finale, I am God!”

Interview between Time.news Editor and Luben Bojanov, DJ and Techno Music Icon
Editor: Welcome, Luben Bojanov! It’s a pleasure to have you here. Your recent emergence in the music scene, especially under the shadow of your father’s tragic story, has certainly captured public attention. How does it feel to be part of such a complex narrative while also being recognized as a prominent figure in electronic music?
Luben: Thank you for having me. It’s a surreal experience. My father’s legacy is an important part of my life, and while I mourn his loss, I also want to honor him through my art. Being recognized as a notable DJ is a blend of pride and responsibility. It’s my way of channeling emotions and experiences into something positive.
Editor: You mentioned in a recent interview that you see yourself as one of the icons of electronic music. Can you elaborate on that? What does this icon status mean to you?
Luben: When I refer to myself as an icon, I’m acknowledging the journey I’ve had in the electronic music scene. Since I began producing music in 2008 and going professional in 2010, it’s been a long road filled with growth and evolution. To be seen as influential or iconic means I’m contributing something meaningful to the genre, and it motivates me to keep pushing my boundaries.
Editor: Your career really took off after 2012 with releases for major companies. What would you say has been the pivotal moment in your music career so far?
Luben: Definitely, 2012 was a turning point. Working with major labels expanded my reach and introduced me to incredible collaborators. But the pivotal moment was when I fully embraced my passion for techno and committed to mastering DJing. That dedication opened doors for me, allowing me to create special moments for people through my music.
Editor: You deliver a unique sound within the techno genre. How would you describe your musical style, and how do you ensure it stands out?
Luben: My style draws from different influences, but I always aim to create an emotional connection with the audience. I focus on building a journey through my sets—taking listeners on an experience rather than just playing tracks. I think it’s important to stay true to oneself and not to follow trends blindly. My authenticity is what sets me apart.
Editor: The electronic music landscape can be quite competitive. What challenges have you faced, and how do you overcome them?
Luben: Competition is indeed fierce, but I believe that challenges help us grow. Early on, I struggled with self-doubt and finding my voice amidst so many talented artists.
