Even before the opening of the game between Hapoel Hadera and Maccabi Tel Aviv, which was held at the Netanya Stadium, the police arrested a pair of suspects following a disturbance of public order and threats against a police officer.

According to the police statement: “Central District police and dozens of ushers and security guards held an operation starting this afternoon, inside and outside Netanya Stadium, in order to maintain public safety, traffic arrangements and public order. Meanwhile, Netanya police arrested two fans before the game. “On suspicion of violating public order, when one allegedly threw a pyrotechnic device near the stadium and another rioted and threatened a police officer.”

“As stated, the police arrested the two suspects for questioning – a 20-year-old resident of Pardes Katz and a 24-year-old resident of Petah Tikva and they were taken for questioning at the station.

“This is an uncompromising policy of the Central District against violence and disturbance of public order on the fields and the police intend to prosecute those who try to turn a cultural event in sports into a battlefield.”
