Announcer-turned-broadcaster Choi Dong-seok (46) revealed his current status.
On the 2nd, Choi Dong-seok posted on his social media, “I like studying. “I didn’t know that before,” he wrote, revealing the photo. It appears that he is studying English.
Choi Dong-seok and broadcaster Park Ji-yoon (45) broke up after 14 years of marriage.
The two joined KBS as the 30th announcer in 2004 and married in November 2009 after four years of dating.
They had one son and one daughter, but on October 30 last year, they submitted an application for divorce mediation to the Jeju District Court.
It is known that Park Ji-yoon has custody and parental rights, and Choi Dong-seok meets the children once every two weeks through interview and negotiation rights.
On September 30th, Choi Dong-seok filed a lawsuit for compensation for alimony against Park Ji-yoon and her sexual partner A. It was also belatedly known that Park Ji-yoon filed a lawsuit for damages against B, who had pointed out Choi Dong-seok as an adulteress, in June. Both parties are denying the rumors of an affair.
On the 17th of last month, Dispatch released a transcript of the couple’s fight, revealing the various conflicts that occurred during the divorce process between Park Ji-yoon and Choi Dong-seok. In the revealed content, Choi Dong-seok suspected Park Ji-yoon of having an affair several times. They suspected relationships between chefs, Ji-yoon Park’s 20-year friends, sexual minorities, and business associates. Choi Dong-seok claimed that Park Ji-yoon was mentally unfaithful, and Park Ji-yoon countered that Choi Dong-seok was delusional and suspicious.
One netizen requested an investigation from the Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Police Agency through Kookmin Newspaper regarding the claim of ‘marital sexual assault’ mentioned in the conversation. The complaint was assigned to the Women and Youth Department of the Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Police Agency. The police announced that they have begun an investigation into the alleged sexual assault of Choi Dong-seok and Park Ji-yoon, and are checking whether Park Ji-yoon is cooperating.

Engaging Interview Between the Time.news Editor and Relationship Expert
Time.news Editor: Good afternoon, and welcome to our special segment on personal relationships and public figures. Today, we have the privilege of speaking with Dr. Sarah Kim, a highly respected psychologist and relationship expert. Dr. Kim, thank you for joining us today.
Dr. Sarah Kim: Thank you for having me! It’s great to be here.
Editor: Let’s dive right in. Recently, broadcaster Choi Dong-seok disclosed some personal insights on his social media after the breakdown of his 14-year marriage to Park Ji-yoon. He mentioned his newfound love for studying, particularly English, amidst the turmoil. What do you think this reveals about coping mechanisms during a divorce?
Dr. Kim: Choi’s interest in studying can be seen as a positive coping mechanism. Engaging in learning can provide a sense of control and distraction from emotional distress. It’s a healthy way to redirect energy, especially after a significant life change like a divorce. This shift can also signal a desire for personal growth and opportunities for new beginnings.
Editor: That’s an interesting perspective. The situation has become increasingly complex with allegations of infidelity and even claims of marital sexual assault surfacing during their divorce proceedings. How do such allegations impact the healing process for both parties involved?
Dr. Kim: Allegations like these can severely complicate the healing process. For one, they can lead to heightened emotions such as anger, betrayal, and confusion, which can delay emotional recovery. It’s important for individuals in such situations to seek professional help to navigate these feelings and establish healthy boundaries. In cases like Choi and Park’s, public perception can also exacerbate their personal struggles.
Editor: Absolutely. The public scrutiny surrounding their divorce, intensified by things like leaked transcripts of their private arguments, adds another layer of challenge. How can individuals protect their emotional well-being when their private lives become public?
Dr. Kim: Privacy is vital, especially during sensitive times like a divorce. Individuals can benefit from establishing clear boundaries about what they share publicly and learning to filter external opinions. Additionally, seeking support from trusted friends and professional counselors can help maintain a level of emotional safety. Finding outlets for expression, like journaling or art, is also beneficial.
Editor: That’s valuable advice. Speaking of support systems, we know that Choi has been granted visitation rights with his children, meeting them once every two weeks. How important is it for parents to maintain a connection with their children during and after a divorce?
Dr. Kim: Maintaining a connection with children is crucial. It helps children feel secure and reassured that their relationship with both parents remains intact despite the changes. Regular visitation, such as what Choi has arranged, can provide a rhythm that brings a sense of normalcy for the kids. Open communication is key; parents should reassure children that they are loved and supported through these transitions.
Editor: Very insightful. Lastly, with the allegations of infidelity and its accompanying legal battles, what can couples facing similar challenges learn from situations like Choi Dong-seok and Park Ji-yoon’s?
Dr. Kim: Communication is the cornerstone of any relationship. Addressing concerns directly and honestly can prevent many misunderstandings and conflicts. When allegations arise, it’s imperative for couples to communicate openly about their feelings rather than letting resentment build. Seeking professional mediation can help in navigating the tricky waters of divorce amicably, especially when children are involved.
Editor: Thank you, Dr. Kim, for sharing your expertise on such a sensitive topic. Your insights will surely help our viewers better understand the complexities of relationships and personal well-being during difficult times.
Dr. Kim: It was my pleasure. Thank you for having this important conversation.
Editor: And thank you to our audience for tuning in. We hope this discussion brings clarity and support to those navigating personal challenges. Until next time, take care and stay informed.
