Rabat – The government notes with satisfaction Morocco’s progression of three points, in one fell swoop, in the Human Development Index (HDI) published by the United Nations, said Thursday the Minister responsible for Relations with Parliament , government spokesperson, Mustapha Baitas, describing this performance as “very positive”.

Interview between the Time.news Editor and Mustapha Baitas, Morocco’s Minister Responsible for Relations with Parliament
Time.news Editor: Good afternoon, Minister Baitas. Thank you for joining us today. Congratulations on Morocco’s impressive advancement in the UN Human Development Index. A three-point jump in such a competitive landscape is no small feat. What do you attribute this success to?
Mustapha Baitas: Good afternoon, and thank you for having me. This achievement is a result of the concerted efforts made by the Moroccan government over recent years. We’ve implemented various social, economic, and educational reforms designed to enhance the quality of life for our citizens. The collaboration between different ministries and stakeholder involvement has been crucial in driving this progress.
Time.news Editor: It sounds like a collective effort. Can you elaborate on some specific initiatives that were pivotal in making this advancement possible?
Mustapha Baitas: Certainly! One of the major initiatives has been our focus on improving access to education and healthcare. We have increased investment in both sectors, expanded infrastructure, and created programs aimed at vulnerable populations. Additionally, we’ve worked on reducing poverty rates and improving job opportunities, particularly for youth and women, which are critical factors in human development.
Time.news Editor: It’s encouraging to hear about a commitment to education and health. However, some critics argue that improvements aren’t felt equally across all regions of Morocco. How does the government plan to address regional disparities?
Mustapha Baitas: That is a valid concern, and we recognize that development must be inclusive. We are actively working on policies tailored to regional needs. For example, we’re focusing on rural development projects, better regional healthcare access, and improving infrastructure in underserved areas. Equity in development is a cornerstone of our strategy moving forward.
Time.news Editor: Looks like the government has a robust plan in place. As Morocco works to maintain and enhance its HDI ranking, what are some challenges you foresee in the near future?
Mustapha Baitas: Like any country, we face challenges, including economic fluctuations, climate change, and the need for ongoing investment in human capital. Ensuring that our growth is sustainable is imperative, and we are prioritizing resilience in our policies to face these challenges head-on.
Time.news Editor: Sustainability is truly vital. Looking ahead, what vision does the Moroccan government hold for the future regarding human development?
Mustapha Baitas: Our vision is to create a society where every citizen has access to the resources and opportunities necessary to thrive. We aim to continue investing in education, healthcare, and job creation while fostering an inclusive environment that supports human rights and gender equality. We want to build a prosperous nation for all Moroccans and remain committed to this path.
Time.news Editor: Thank you, Minister Baitas. Your insights provide a hopeful outlook for Morocco’s development trajectory. It’s clear that Morocco is on an exciting path forward.
Mustapha Baitas: Thank you for the opportunity to share our progress. We’re optimistic about the future and look forward to more achievements in the realm of human development.
