The Brazilian army accused three colonels of writing a letter in late 2022 pushing the Armed Forces leadership to carry out a coup against the election of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
The investigation concluded that active Colonel Anderson Lima de Moura and reserve Colonels Carlos Giovani Delevati Pasini and José Otávio Machado Rêzo committed the crimes of undue criticism and inciting indiscipline.
A fourth colonel under investigation, Alexandre Castilho Bitencourt da Silva, was not indicted due to a precautionary measure that suspended the investigations against him.
