Right-wing activists demonstrated this evening (Saturday) in front of Defense Minister Bnei Gantz’s home in Rosh HaAyin, against the administrative detention order imposed by the minister on a 20-year-old Jewish boy living in Samaria, last weekend. The demonstrators carried protest posters, which read, among other things, “Dome and wigs are not evidence,” “Enough of the persecution of the youth of the hills,” and “Revoke the dragon order.”
According to the organizers of the demonstration, “the boy who was arrested for GSS interrogation about two weeks ago did nothing, and when the GSS and police saw that there was no evidence against him to stand trial in court, they decided to withdraw the indictment and bypass an administrative order.”
This is a regular method of the Israel Police Department and the Jewish Department of the Shin Bet, which do not resort to measures in their struggle against the settlers. The young man was arrested about three weeks ago for GSS interrogation, where he was charged with arson and assault. At first, the young man was in an exceptional order, which prohibited him from meeting with an attorney for about a week, and then the GSS investigation continued for another two weeks, at the end of which the prosecution stated that it intended to file an indictment against the young man.
Last weekend, after failing to formulate an indictment against the young man, the defense minister signed the young man’s administrative detention.
