Interview⁢ between Time.news Editor and Foreign Affairs Expert

Time.news Editor (TNE): Welcome to Time.news! Today, we’re diving⁢ into a significant event on the global stage:⁤ the third Turkish-African‍ Ministerial Conference, currently ongoing in Djibouti.⁣ Joining us ⁣is Dr. Helena ‌Misbah, a renowned expert in international relations with‍ a focus on African and⁢ Middle Eastern diplomacy. Thank ⁢you for being here, Dr. Misbah!

Dr. Helena Misbah (HM): Thank you for having me! I’m excited to ‍discuss this important conference and its implications for both Turkey ‌and Africa.

TNE: ⁢Let’s⁣ start ‍with the context. Minister Al-Tahir ⁣Al-Baour from the ⁣Libyan Government ⁣of National Unity has arrived⁢ in Djibouti to participate. Why is this⁣ ministerial conference significant for Africa ⁢and Turkey?

HM: This conference ⁤is a vital platform for enhancing cooperation and understanding ⁤between ‌Turkey and African nations. Turkey has been actively pursuing stronger ties with African countries⁢ in recent years through economic, political, ‌and social initiatives. The fact that Libya, a pivotal player ‍in North‍ Africa and⁣ a ‍member ⁢of‌ the African Union, is represented ‍at such a level shows the importance of these discussions.

TNE: Minister Al-Baour highlighted the ⁣importance of the Turkish-African partnership in his speech. What key areas of cooperation do ⁤you⁣ think are being discussed at ⁤this conference?

HM: Absolutely,‍ partnerships⁤ are critical! There are several key areas likely‌ being discussed: trade,⁣ investment, infrastructure ⁤development, and even ⁢cultural ⁣exchanges.‍ Turkey has⁢ made substantial investments in African infrastructure projects, and the continent ⁢is a burgeoning market; ⁤hence, both sides ⁤stand to gain significantly from enhanced bilateral relations. Additionally, there’s scope for collaboration in ⁤sectors such as education and technology, which can empower⁤ local populations.

TNE: That’s intriguing! Given the current geopolitical climate, what challenges do you think might arise from this partnership?

HM: One major challenge is the varying political landscapes within African nations. Each country has its own unique‌ needs and priorities ‍that Turkey must‍ navigate carefully. Additionally, as⁢ Turkey continues to assert ‌itself as a regional ‍power, there are ‍concerns about⁣ its influence and how it might affect existing relationships Africa⁣ has with⁢ other global powers, particularly in terms of⁤ economic dependencies.

TNE: Interesting points, Dr. Misbah. How can both⁤ sides ensure that this partnership is beneficial and equitable?

HM: Transparency and dialogue are crucial. There⁤ should be⁤ open discussions about mutual interests and concerns. Additionally, involving local⁤ stakeholders and communities in the decision-making process can ensure that partnerships are sustainable ⁣and address the real needs of the populations. Turkey must also be ‌mindful of criticisms regarding neocolonial tendencies to build trust with ⁣African‌ nations.

TNE: Great insights! As we⁢ look ahead, what outcomes or developments should we anticipate from this conference?

HM: I anticipate we’ll see⁣ a commitment to increased trade agreements and perhaps some concrete projects outlined for collaboration. We might also witness a strategic framework being established to foster ongoing⁢ dialogue beyond this conference. ⁤I believe it’s ⁣a step towards a more structured partnership that could ⁣yield significant benefits for both continents.

TNE: Thank you, Dr. Helena Misbah, for your⁤ valuable perspectives⁤ on this⁤ crucial event. It’s clear that the Turkish-African partnership is not only relevant but also essential for future development on‍ both sides.

HM: Thank you⁤ for having me! I look forward to seeing the outcomes of this conference and the⁢ ongoing evolution of Turkey’s role in Africa.

TNE: We appreciate your insights,⁤ and we’ll ⁢keep our⁤ audience updated on any developments.
