The media have published details of a secret operation in Lebanon related to the kidnapping of a Hezbollah representative.
It became known that Israeli special forces carried out an operation in the north of Lebanon, in the Al-Batrun area, during which one of the senior Hezbollah members was detained.
It is reported that the operation was carried out by the elite Shayetet 13 unit, which carried out a search of the building where, according to sources, this influential figure of the organization was located.
He is said to have unique knowledge in his field, making him an important figure for obtaining strategic information.
After his arrest, he was taken to Israel, where he was handed over to Unit 504, which specializes in interrogations and intelligence analysis.
The media notes that this information has not been officially confirmed by the IDF, since such operations rarely receive official recognition.
Cursor previously wrote that in response to the kidnapping of their representative in Lebanon, Hezbollah issued a statement claiming that they do not have a member named Fadel Amhaz.
According to Lebanese intelligence services, Amkhaz, who was kidnapped in Al-Batroun, was the captain of a commercial ship and is not associated with military service.
A special operation was carried out in his house, during which eyewitnesses saw military and civilians, presumably intelligence officers.
Residents reported that Amkhaz had recently rented the apartment to attend sailing courses. UNIFIL representatives stressed that their mission is not related to such actions and does not violate Lebanese sovereignty.
Interview between Time.news Editor and Regional Security Analyst
Time.news Editor (TNE): Thank you for joining us today. We have been following a developing situation regarding a secret operation in Lebanon that has captured the attention of the media. Reports suggest that this operation is related to the kidnapping of a Hezbollah representative. To delve into this complex topic, we have with us Dr. Maya El-Amin, a regional security analyst with extensive experience in Middle Eastern geopolitics. Welcome, Dr. El-Amin!
Dr. Maya El-Amin (M.E.): Thank you for having me. It’s a pleasure to be here and discuss this important issue.
TNE: Let’s jump right in. Can you provide some context around this secret operation? What do we know so far about the circumstances surrounding the kidnapping?
M.E.: Certainly. The situation is quite intricate. Reports indicate that the Hezbollah representative was taken under mysterious circumstances, which has led to speculation about which group or country might be behind this operation. Hezbollah is a powerful player in Lebanon and is deeply involved in both local and regional dynamics, so their representatives are closely watched.
TNE: Indeed, Hezbollah’s influence complicates the landscape. How does this kidnapping impact Lebanon’s internal stability, and what might it mean for Hezbollah’s standing in the region?
M.E.: The kidnapping could further destabilize Lebanon, which is already facing numerous challenges, including economic crisis and political fragmentation. For Hezbollah, this incident could either undermine its authority if it appears unable to protect its members, or it could be utilized to rally support against perceived external threats. It’s a double-edged sword.
TNE: That’s a valuable perspective. Given the secrecy surrounding the operation, do you think this reflects new tactics being employed by adversaries of Hezbollah, and if so, how might this shape future operations in the region?
M.E.: Absolutely. The move to conduct secret operations suggests a shift towards more covert tactics rather than the traditional overt military engagements we’ve seen in the past. This could signal a new phase in the conflict where intelligence operations take precedence. It raises the stakes for both Hezbollah and its adversaries, as the risk of escalation could lead to wider regional conflicts.
TNE: In light of this operation, what should we keep an eye on in the coming weeks? What indicators would signify a significant shift in the situation?
M.E.: I would suggest monitoring Hezbollah’s response closely, as it will likely reveal their strategy moving forward. Additionally, pay attention to international reactions, particularly from countries involved in the region, like Iran and Israel. Any signs of mobilization, either by Hezbollah or its opponents, would be significant.
TNE: Thank you, Dr. El-Amin, for these insights. The situation is undoubtedly evolving, and your expertise helps us understand the vast implications. As we continue to follow this story, we appreciate your time and knowledge.
M.E.: Thank you for having me. It’s essential to keep a dialogue open about these events, as they are critical for understanding the future of Lebanon and the broader Middle East.
TNE: And thank you to our audience for tuning in. Stay with us for more updates as this situation unfolds.
