500 children from 34 clubs turned the 26th edition of the oldest swimming competition in Bulgaria “Stefan Popov-Zamorata” into a real celebration. In addition to the medalists in the various disciplines and ages, the best in the five age groups for boys and girls were also traditionally determined. The ranking is based on points from the World Swimming Federation against the relevant world record.
The cups for the best girls were given to Magdalena Pepegova from the club “Damini LV” (age 15-17), Asya Zlatinska from “Vihren” (age 13-14), Mila Dimitrova from “Olympus” (age 11- 12 years), Eva Stoitseva from “Kamengrad” (age 9-10 years) and Vanessa Samardzhieva from “Pirin” (age up to 8 years).
Adrian Joninov from “Sprint” (age 15-17 years), Ivaylo Pirinski from GD Sport (age 13-14 years), Valentin Angelov from “Levski” (age 11-12 years) deserved the cups for the best boys. ), Ventsislav Popov from Olymp (age 9-10) and Martin Filipov from Beroe (age up to 8).
“Congratulations to all the children. The very fact that you chose swimming makes you a winner, because swimming is health. Congratulations on achieving good results. But I want to address every child who entered the pool for the oldest swimming competition in Bulgaria: “You are all champions”. Congratulations to your coaches for their excellent work. As well as to your parents for their support. Once again we created a celebration of swimming and the full stands at the “Spartak” pool proved it “, declared the main organizer of the tournament, the legend in marathon swimming Petar Stoychev.

Our talented swimmers were personally honored by the president of the Bulgarian Swimming Sports Federation, Georgi Avramchev, and by the Deputy Minister of Sports, Stoyan Andonov, who attended the official opening. Next to them at the ceremony at the Spartak pool were Zamorata’s son – Branimir Popov, as well as coach Krasimir Tumanov, founder of the tournament.
The competition, organized by the “Levski” swimming club, has been held since 1998, and since 2004 it has been named after Stefan Popov-Zamorata in memory of the great swimmer and coach. It traditionally gathers the best young competitors.
