Imphal: The United Janata Dal (UJD) has expressed support for the BJP to form a government in Manipur.

Elections to the 60-seat Manipur Assembly were held in two phases. The BJP won 32 seats and secured a simple majority. The JDU emerged as the 2nd largest party with 6 seats.

The Congress won only 5 seats in this election. Following this, the BJP is back in power in Manipur.

In this situation, the JDU has expressed support for the formation of a BJP government. Bihar is ruled by a JDU-BJP alliance. The United Janata Dal (UJD) has said that it has decided to support the BJP to rule Manipur in the interest of the people.

All the 6 newly elected MLAs in the United Janata Dal party have elected Kumkum Joykisan Singh as the Assembly Committee Chairman.
