Support from interfaith leaders and figures was given to multi-faith candidate number 1 because he was considered to be the leader candidate who cared the most for the little people. It is also said that Ahmad Ali is the most tolerant of all the candidates, so it is believed that he will be able to act equally with everyone when he is elected governor.
Ahmad Ali’s habit of working in the social sector by helping the public regardless of background is believed to be able to create a just government in Central Sulawesi.
“This (electing a governor) is an emergency. If the leader we choose is good, this is like a spring. If the spring is clear from the top, then it goes down to the bottom. But if it is dirty from the top, then the bottom is dirty,” said one Islamic religious figure Habib Muhsin Alhabsy.
He also admitted that he knew Ahmad Ali and his family. According to the Imam of the Jami Mosque, Kampung Baru, Palu City, Ahmad Ali is a philanthropist.
He also asked Ahmad Ali to be a figure who could unite all groups in society. Therefore, when he becomes governor, it is believed that Nilam Sari Lawira’s husband will be able to be the leader of all circles.
Meanwhile, one of the prominent Christian personalities from Poso, pastor Rinaldy Damanik, revealed how Ahmad Ali became an important person in creating peace in Poso Regency. He also dismissed the issues that were often focused on the figure of Ahmad Ali.
“Every five years, Mr. Ahmad Ali is attacked by terrorist issues. Every time during elections or local elections he is always attacked with the slander. How is it possible that terrorists come to my house again and again. It is Ahmad Ali is the only person who facilitates the meetings of the Synod throughout Central Sulawesi “If there is anyone else like him, we must try to be the Governor of Central Sulawesi. He has the spirit to unite the people, that is what we need to support,” said the peacemaker Poso.
A similar statement also came from AKBP (Pur) Teddy D Salwati. The retired policeman admitted that he had experience and saw firsthand how Ahmad Ali cared for humanity without looking at his background. Teddy told how Ahmad Ali’s role was helping the people of Central Sulawesi when the 2018 disaster happened.
“At that time, he asked me. He asked me to help distribute rice to all the people affected by the disaster. He asked that it be distributed to everyone regardless of their background. That’s why, if you want to talk about tolerance, he. We’re not looking for religious leaders or tribal leaders, we’re looking for a leader for Central Sulawesi and he’s the most suitable person,” said Teddy.
Interview: Understanding the Significance of Interfaith Support in the 2024 Central Sulawesi Gubernatorial Election
Editor of Time.news (E): Good evening, and welcome to Time.news. Today, we have a special guest, Dr. Sofia Mindari, an expert in political sociology and interfaith relations. We’re diving into the recent declaration of interfaith figures supporting BERAMAL, the candidate for Governor of Central Sulawesi, Ahmad HM Ali. Welcome, Dr. Mindari!
Dr. Sofia Mindari (S): Thank you for having me! It’s a pleasure to be here.
E: Let’s start with the event itself. Thousands gathered at the Sriti Palu Convention Hall to support Ahmad Ali. What does such a large turnout say about the current political climate in Central Sulawesi?
S: The turnout reflects a significant desire for change among the citizens of Central Sulawesi. It indicates that people are looking for a candidate who truly represents their interests and understands their needs. The involvement of interfaith leaders highlights a growing recognition of the importance of unity in a diverse society.
E: Absolutely! The article mentions that Ahmad Ali is perceived as the most tolerant candidate. Why is tolerance so crucial in the context of Central Sulawesi?
S: Tolerance is vital, especially in regions with diverse religious and ethnic backgrounds like Central Sulawesi. Political decisions often affect not just individuals but entire communities. A candidate who is known for their ability to listen and embrace differences can foster a more inclusive government. This ultimately leads to social harmony, which is crucial for development and progress.
E: One of the religious figures mentioned that electing a good leader is akin to ensuring a clean spring flows to the bottom. How does this metaphor relate to governance?
S: That metaphor is quite powerful. It suggests that the quality of leadership has a direct impact on the welfare of the citizens. A leader who is ethical and compassionate will ensure that policies reflect integrity and fairness. Conversely, a corrupt or negligent leader can taint the entire system, affecting everyone at every level. Leadership, in essence, serves as the filter for governance.
E: Ahmad Ali is also recognized for his work in the social sector, helping individuals regardless of their background. How does this philanthropic approach play into his candidacy?
S: His philanthropic efforts demonstrate a commitment to social justice and equality, which resonates well with voters. By actively engaging with various communities and addressing their needs, Ahmad Ali builds trust and shows that he is not just a politician but a community servant. This aligns with the expectations of many voters who are looking for authentic representation.
E: In the context of this election, what message do you think the interfaith support sends to the electorate?
S: The interfaith support sends a strong message of unity and cooperation among different groups. It emphasizes that, despite differences, there is common ground — the desire for peace, prosperity, and equitable governance. This support can encourage individuals from various backgrounds to participate in the democratic process, boosting voter turnout and civic engagement.
E: Looking forward, how significant will the role of interfaith dialogue be in governance if Ahmad Ali is elected?
S: Interfaith dialogue will be crucial for fostering collaboration among diverse groups. If elected, Ahmad Ali’s ability to maintain these dialogues will not only enhance community relations but also contribute to more comprehensive policymaking. In a pluralistic society, understanding different perspectives is key to creating policies that are equitable and effective for all.
E: Dr. Mindari, thank you for shedding light on this important issue. It seems the 2024 gubernatorial election is not just about political candidates but about the values of unity and inclusivity in governance.
S: Thank you for having me. Yes, it truly is a pivotal moment for Central Sulawesi, and it will be interesting to see how this all unfolds.
E: That wraps up our discussion for today. Thank you for tuning into Time.news. We’ll continue to follow the developments in Central Sulawesi’s election as they unfold. Good night!
