The Department of Police Investigations today (Sunday) filed an indictment in the Be’er Sheva Magistrate’s Court against a police officer in the Border Patrol who passed confidential police information to senior criminal elements in the south of the country regarding operational activities of police units.

The fighter was arrested earlier this month on suspicion of passing information to Shalom Domrani’s criminal organization, using sensitive police materials that emerged from an ongoing investigation against criminal organizations in the south. According to the indictment, filed through attorney Natalie Hagai, the defendant provided senior criminal elements in the south of the country, on several occasions and at various times, confidential information about operational activities of police units to which he was attached, including regarding future searches and arrests, with the aim of thwarting the activity. In one case, as part of a confidential police activity, the defendant received a confidential document that included a list of people who constitute “activity targets” of the police and information about police activities that are to be carried out regarding them. Defendant forwarded, via Instagram, the document and information to the perpetrators and then deleted the correspondence.

Later in the day, the defendant photographed the organization of the police forces, including the license numbers of the police vehicles, prior to the arrest of one of the “activity targets” and passed, via Instagram, the photo to one of those criminal elements.

The indictment attributes to the defendant the commission of offenses of disclosure in breach of duty, obstruction of justice and breach of trust. The Department of Police Investigations asks the court to order the detention of the accused until the end of the legal proceedings against him and alternatively to release him on restrictive conditions.
