Bungie Addresses Destiny 2’s Perk RNG Bug with Double Loot Drops for Vesper’s Host Dungeon and Curated Weapon Rolls
Bungie has announced a new patch designed to fix the notorious perk RNG bug in Destiny 2 that has left players frustrated, particularly regarding rare perk combinations from the Vesper’s Host dungeon.
Community investigations uncovered that certain perk rolls were nearly impossible to obtain, contradicting Bungie’s remarks that all was functioning correctly. Players banded together to compile evidence supporting their claims of a bug affecting perk drops.
In response to these findings, Bungie has taken responsibility and is rolling out Hotfix 8.1.0.4 on November 5, with the primary aim of rectifying the flawed RNG perk system that has impacted drop rates.
Double Rewards in Vesper’s Host Dungeon and Curated Weapon Rolls
As a token of appreciation to the Destiny 2 community for their diligent investigation, Bungie will provide double drops in the Vesper’s Host dungeon from November 19 to December 3. This announcement was confirmed on the official Destiny 2 Team account on X (Twitter).
During this special event, players can expect extra loot from dungeon encounters and activity completions, encompassing both weapons and armor.
“Starting November 19 through December 3, the Vesper’s Host Dungeon will offer double drops for encounter and activity completions,” Bungie detailed in their post on X. “Both weapon and armor rewards can drop from encounter completions. This will be a great time to hunt for your desired rolls on weapons, or even tackle Master difficulty to earn Artifice armor.”
In addition to the double loot, Bungie has confirmed that Banshee-44 will feature a selection of curated weapons with specific perk rolls also commencing November 19. Bungie conveyed, “Our goal is to get you some perk combinations that were a bit harder to earn due to the bug.”
While there’s no confirmed end date for acquiring these curated weapons, Bungie advises players to collect them promptly once they become available in-game.
Here’s a list of curated weapons that will be available from Banshee-44 starting November 19, 2024:
- Rose Hand Cannon: Fluted Barrel, Accurized Rounds, Slideshot, Explosive Payload, Smooth Grip, Handling MW
- Multimach Submachine Gun: Polygonal Rifling, Tactical Mag, Attrition Orbs, Kinetic Tremors, Reload MW
- Indebted Kindness Sidearm: Smart Drift Control, Tactical Mag, Loose Change, Voltshot, Velocity MW
- Compass Rose Hand Cannon: Corkscrew Rifling, Light Mag, Snapshot Sights, Slideshot, Handling MW
- Hothead (Adept) Rocket Launcher: Hard Launch, Impact Casing, Tracking Module, Clown Cartridge, Reload MW
- VS Chill Inhibitor Grenade Launcher: Countermass, Spike Grenades, Envious Arsenal, Bait and Switch, Reload MW
To obtain dungeon weapons, players must own the dungeon and complete at least one encounter.
With the double drops and curated rolls available, this limited-time event is an excellent opportunity for players aiming to secure their ideal god rolls from the Vesper’s Host dungeon.

Interview between Time.news Editor and Destiny 2 Expert
Time.news Editor (TNE): Welcome to our special interview segment! Today, we’re diving into some exciting updates regarding Destiny 2. Joining us is renowned gaming expert, Dr. Emily Hart, who has been closely following Bungie’s developments. Emily, thank you for being here today!
Dr. Emily Hart (EH): Thank you for having me! It’s great to discuss the latest happenings in the Destiny universe.
TNE: Let’s get right into it! Bungie recently announced a patch to address the perk RNG bug that’s frustrated players, especially regarding rare perk drops from the Vesper’s Host dungeon. What has been the community’s reaction?
EH: The response has been overwhelmingly positive. Players felt legitimately stuck, as certain perks seemed almost unattainable, despite Bungie’s reassurances that everything was functioning correctly. This patch, along with improved drop rates, is a significant relief for many dedicated players who invest their time to find the perfect gear.
TNE: Right! They even designated a special time frame for double loot drops starting November 19. What impact do you think this will have on player engagement during that period?
EH: The double loot event is a fantastic move by Bungie. It not only incentivizes players to participate actively but also creates a sense of community, as they all hunt for those coveted rolls together. We could see a spike in player activities during this period, leading to discussions and shared experiences across social platforms. It’s really a genius strategy to revive interest in the dungeon.
TNE: Speaking of community, it’s impressive how players banded together to expose the RNG issue. What does this say about the Destiny 2 community as a whole?
EH: The Destiny 2 community is incredibly passionate and dedicated. Their collective effort to gather evidence and push for a correction showcases a strong bond among players. They’re not just looking out for their own interests; they want the game to thrive as a whole. This unity often leads developers like Bungie to listen and take necessary actions, fostering a healthier ecosystem for the game.
TNE: Absolutely! Apart from the double drops, Bungie is also introducing curated weapon rolls. How significant is that for players who have been struggling with perk acquisition?
EH: Curated weapon rolls are monumental for players, especially those looking for specific builds in their gameplay. These curated selections take some of the randomness out of the equation and provide more agency to players over their gear, allowing them to optimize their loadouts strategically. This move will increase satisfaction and likely enhance the overall gameplay experience.
TNE: It sounds like Bungie is making strides to win back player trust after the RNG bug incident. What do you think the future holds for Destiny 2 in terms of community and developer interaction?
EH: If Bungie continues to prioritize transparency and player feedback as they did with this patch, I believe we could see a stronger, more loyal player base. Continuous engagement will help maintain an active community, which is vital for any live service game. If they keep addressing issues collaboratively with their players, Destiny 2 can flourish and evolve in exciting new ways.
TNE: Thanks, Emily! It seems Bungie’s recent actions have set a framework for a more positive interaction with the community. Before we wrap up, any parting thoughts for our readers?
EH: I’d encourage players to engage with the game actively during the upcoming double loot period. Share your experiences, collaborate with friends, and enjoy the rewards! This is a rare opportunity to catch up on elusive perks, and the community spirit is what makes Destiny 2 so remarkable.
TNE: Wonderful insights, Emily! Thank you for joining us today to break down these developments. We appreciate your expertise!
EH: Thanks for having me! It’s always a pleasure to discuss Destiny 2. See you in the game!
