Husqvarna has taken a further step forward in the world of electric mobility with the launch of the Pioneer, its first fully electric enduro motorcycle. This machine, designed for off-road enthusiasts who want to move away from petrol, promises a range of up to 137 kilometers according to WMTC tests and a duration of use of up to three hours thanks to a 5.5 kWh lithium ion battery .
The Pioneer has an electric motor with a rated output of 11 kW (15 hp) and a maximum power that reaches 19.2 kW (26.1 HP). This configuration allows the bike to reach a maximum speed of 95 km/h, also providing a torque of 37.6 Nm which ensures agile and precise performance on complicated terrain.
The engine, developed internally by Husqvarna Mobility, It is direct drive and eliminates the need for clutch or gear shiftingwhich makes riding easier and reduces the learning curve for beginners, without sacrificing the ability to tackle technical terrain for more experienced riders.
One of the outstanding features of the Pioneer is its selectable driving mode systemwhich adapts power delivery to the rider’s skill level and type of terrain. Apart from this, the bike offers three levels of energy recovery that can be adjusted according to user preferences, thus maximizing efficiency and extending battery life.
The Pioneer’s chassis is another of its strong points. Made of chrome-molybdenum steel, It is designed to withstand the demands of enduro while optimizing the total weight of the bike, which is 112 kg. The battery and motor act as structural elements, contributing to a geometry that balances stability and flexibility.
To meet the needs of high-performance driving, the bike comes with adjustable WP suspension: a WP XACT air spring front fork with 250mm travel and a WP XPLOR PDS rear shock with 240mm travel, fully adjustable for compression, rebound and preload.
The equipment of the Pioneer is completed by Braktec brakes and Michelin enduro tires. Rear braking is operated by a lever on the left handlebar, an innovation that improves ergonomics and control of the bike, especially on steep descents or on uneven terrain.
The Pioneer lithium-ion battery can be extracted in ten minutes using tools, which allows it to be replaced with a charge to extend the driving day. Fully charging the battery, using the included 660W charger, takes about eight hours via a standard household outlet. For those looking for faster charging times, Husqvarna offers an optional 3.3 kW charger that reduces total charging time to around two hours.
Husqvarna designed the Pioneer to be robust and safe in all conditions. The IP67 certification ensures that the motorcycle is dust and water resistantmaking it ideal for extreme terrain and adverse weather conditions. As for the instruments, the Pioneer has an LCD screen that provides relevant information such as the battery charge status, the selected driving mode, the regeneration level, as well as trip and odometer data. All this can be operated intuitively from the handlebars.
Husqvarna Pioneer will be available globally from February 2025 at all authorized Husqvarna Mobility dealers. Its price, still not confirmed, will be very similar to that of its sister, the KTM Freeride EX-C, cThe recommended price in Spain is around 13,000 euros.
