New Delhi: Sonia Gandhi will continue as the interim president of the Congress. Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said after the working committee meeting that the verdict was accepted.
The chairperson will intervene to address the weakness of the organization. The tactics went wrong in the election. Randeep Singh Surjewala said that Sonia Gandhi will continue as the party president till the end of the elections.
The working committee is meeting today as a result of pressure from revisionists following the release of election results in all the five states. Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi have reportedly resigned amid strong protests from G23 leaders. General Secretary Randeep Surjewala also followed suit, saying the news was baseless.
This is the second time Priyanka Gandhi has led the Congress in the Uttar Pradesh elections. Though he has no official position in the Congress, Rahul Gandhi has been at the helm of elections in four other states.
