A landslide struck Jalan Rancahaur in Karang Tengah Village, Pagedangan District, Tangerang Regency, Banten. Heavy rainfall triggered the earth movement, causing significant displacement of soil.
“Residents reported a landslide due to intense rainfall, leading to soil shifting and the subsequent landslide,” stated Agun Guntara, Head of Disaster Management and Logistics at Tangerang Regency’s Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
The landslide incident was reported to BPBD Tangerang Regency at 4:50 PM WIB. BPBD officials immediately rushed to the scene to assess the situation.
“Thankfully, the situation is under control. There were no casualties or vehicle damage reported,” Guntara assured.
BPBD Tangerang Regency promptly collaborated with relevant authorities. The landslide, measuring 40 meters in length and 7 meters deep, severed the road connection.
“This landslide, spanning approximately 40 meters with a depth of 7 meters, resulted in the closure of the village road in Kampung Rancahaur,” Guntara explained.
Jalan Rancahaur serves as a vital link between Karang Tengah Village in Pagedangan District, Tangerang Regency, and Parung Panjang District, Bogor Regency, West Java. Residents remain concerned about the rising water levels in Sungai Cimanceuri.
“Residents are worried about the increasing flow of Sungai Cimanceuri,” Guntara added.
