Interview: The Future of Digital Governance in Greece

Time.news Editor‍ (TNE): Welcome to the Time.news interview series. Today, we⁣ have the pleasure of speaking with Mr. Konstantinos ⁤Kyranakis, the Deputy Minister of‌ Digital Governance in Greece. Mr. Kyranakis,‌ thank you for joining us!

Konstantinos Kyranakis‌ (KK): ‍Thank you for having me. It’s a⁤ pleasure to be here.

TNE: Recently, you announced some exciting updates regarding the akinita.gov.gr ‍platform. Can you share why the inclusion ‌of⁢ legal entities on this platform⁣ is significant for Greek governance?

KK: Absolutely. By including legal entities‌ on ⁤the akinita.gov.gr platform, we are streamlining the process of property transactions in Greece. This ‍means⁣ that not only‌ individuals but also businesses will benefit from immediate access to transcript certificates, thereby reducing bureaucracy and enhancing efficiency in ⁤legal transactions.

TNE: ‍This sounds like⁣ an important step ⁣forward. How‍ do you foresee ⁤this impacting businesses and their operations within Greece?

KK: The immediate availability of transcript certificates will empower businesses to‌ conduct transactions‍ more swiftly, enabling them ⁢to focus on growth rather than getting bogged down in paperwork. Moreover, this‍ digital transformation aligns with our broader goal of making⁣ Greece a more ‌attractive environment ‌for investment ⁢and ⁣entrepreneurship.

TNE: That’s ‍a compelling vision. In your letter‍ to the Coordination Committee of the Notary Association, you also mentioned amendments to the⁣ “Digital Transfer File” project. Can you elaborate ⁤on what this entails and its importance?

KK: Certainly. The amendments to the “Digital Transfer File” project contract⁣ are aimed at enhancing the functionality and security of digital contracts. Collaboration between the ⁤Ministries of Digital Governance and Justice is critical to ensure that we create a robust framework that protects both parties involved in a transaction. This integration will fortify trust in digital governance and lay the groundwork for more comprehensive digital services in the future.

TNE: Trust is indeed ‍crucial in digital transactions. As we ⁤move ⁤forward, what ‍challenges do you anticipate in implementing these digital innovations?

KK: ⁣ One of the key challenges is ensuring that the infrastructure supports the increased demand for digital services.‍ We must also provide adequate training and‌ resources to ⁤notaries and legal professionals to adapt to these changes. Additionally, we remain committed to safeguarding data privacy and security throughout this transformation.

TNE: ⁢Speaking of security, how does your ministry plan to enhance ⁤data protection as more legal entities engage with digital‌ platforms?

KK: Data protection is a top priority ‍for us. We are implementing advanced security measures such as encryption ‍and multi-factor authentication. We are also in alignment with the EU’s⁢ General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) to ensure that users’ data is handled⁤ with the utmost care and transparency.

TNE: It’s reassuring to hear that ⁢data safety is being prioritized. What can we expect from the government ‌in terms of updates and further‍ developments in this digital governance initiative?

KK: We are committed to keeping the ‍public informed and engaged throughout this process.‍ We plan to roll ⁤out regular updates via our official channels and will ‌host webinars and workshops to⁢ guide stakeholders through these⁤ transitions. Our goal is to create an inclusive digital environment that ⁢benefits all‌ citizens and‌ businesses.
