Liverpool U19-Bayer Leverkusen U19 4-1 (1-1)
After a humiliating 1-3 loss to RB Leipzig in the previous European match, Barry Lewtas’ men were eager for revenge as they faced Bayer Leverkusen in a match on Tuesday afternoon.
Liverpool U19 did not let the setback affect them and took control of the game after going behind. Trey Nyoni and Ranel Young both could have equalized, but it was Kieran Morrison who took responsibility after 36 minutes had been played.
Nyoni made a good run into the box and managed to take a shot that was saved by the German goalkeeper, but Morrison was first on the scene and put the rebound into the net. After that, the U19 team did not look back.
Comfortable victory
After just under an hour of play, Carter Pinnington rose up for a set-piece from Josh Davidson and headed the ball into the net.
Rio Ngumoha was one of the standout players on the left wing with his brilliant technique, and he was the one who provided Keyrol Figueroa before the Reds’ third goal.
Just before the end, Trent Kone-Doherty got his well-deserved goal when he was played through by Figueroa and hammered the ball into the net. Like Ngumoha, he was a constant threat on the wing.
After the victory, Liverpool U19 has seven points from four matches in the UEFA Youth League.
Liverpool U19: Misciur, Pinnington, Nallo, Lucky, Davidson, Laffey, Nyoni, Morrison, Kone-Doherty, Ngumoha (Bradshaw, 88), Young (Figueroa, 72).
