At the beginning of December, the World Cup bobsleigh competition will begin, and the second stage is scheduled to take place on the Sigulda track from December 9 to December 15.
In a conversation with “Sportacentrs.com”, LBSF board member and bobsleigh coach Sandis Prusis revealed that currently LBSF does not have enough funding to pay for the use of the Sigulda ice track, and hopes for state support.
Prusis added that insufficient funding may become the reason for canceling the competition in Sigulda, but negotiations are currently underway with the Ministry of the Interior, so that the World Cup stage in Sigulda will still take place.
“Right now, we are working on making sure that everything happens. We are not considering the possibility of canceling the event, in the hope that everything will turn out as planned,” Judeika told the LETA agency. “All parties involved are doing their part to make the race happen.”
Judeika also confirmed that negotiations are currently underway with the Ministry of Interior and the outcome is awaited, hoping that LBSF will be granted co-financing for the World Cup stage.
Women’s monobobsley and doubles competitions in both men’s and women’s competitions, as well as skeleton competitions, are planned for the World Cup stage in Sigulda.
