Nouakchott – Mauritania’s accession to the rotating⁢ presidency of the African Union (AU) is a deserved consecration, ‍given‍ its role as an actor of stability in⁣ the region, affirmed the Minister of ‍Foreign Affairs and Cooperation African and Moroccans living ⁣abroad, ​Nasser Bourita.

“This is a deserved ⁢recognition given the ⁣role of Mauritania, under the leadership of⁢ President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, as an actor of stability in the region and its positive role regarding a set of ⁢issues at ‍the of the African continent”, declared Mr. Bourita to⁢ the Mauritanian news site “Sahara Media”, ‍on the‍ sidelines of the African Union Summit which is‌ being held in‍ Addis ​Ababa.

“In application ⁢of the High Instructions of HM King Mohammed VI, Morocco‌ supported Mauritania’s candidacy, ‌given the neighborhood ties and ‌solid bilateral relations between Morocco and Mauritania,” added Mr. ⁤Bourita.

And to underline that the Mauritanian President “knows that he can count on the support of Morocco, in accordance with the High Royal ⁤Instructions, for this presidency to⁢ be a‍ success”.

The⁢ Islamic Republic of Mauritania assumes the rotating presidency of the African Union from this Saturday.
