Three Monterrey lawyers defend “Ponciano”, driver of the trailer that transported 300 migrants, who were abandoned two weeks ago. The trio of litigants argued before the judge that their client is innocent, and the death of the undocumented immigrants traveling in the box was due to negligence at Clinic 7 and at the Amparo Pape hospital.
The lawyers were not satisfied with the decision determined by the Judge who ordered preventive detention for the defendant for the crime of homicide and attempt, and reported that they will seek protection for their client.
Three private defense attorneys from a prestigious law firm in the State of Nuevo León are the ones assigned to Ponciano “N”, and Juan Francisco Moreno Maldonado, one of his defense attorneys who was present at the hearing, reports that they are not satisfied, assuring they were not the evidence presented is assessed.
The lawyer mentioned, at the end of the celebrated hearing, that these three months determined by the Judge, as a defense, they will look for a way to collect more evidence, to demonstrate that the facts that the Public Ministry declares are not legal.
He stated that, as a defense, they will seek protection for their client, but it will depend on the decision taken by the Federal Judge, which could be before the three months dictated.
He stressed that this relief will be requested due to the lack of evaluation of the evidence presented in favor of his client, where it was pointed out that there was an arbitrary detention, possibly medical negligence, which caused the death of Clorinda Alarcón and Jaime Moreno.
