The leader of the Chechen region and an ally of the Russian president, has announced that he has traveled to Ukraine to meet his soldiers who are taking part in the Russian attacks on Kyiv. The region’s TV channel posted a video in which he was seen with Chechen soldiers, he said a few kilometers from the capital Kyiv

Ramzan Kadyrov, Russia’s Chechen leader and ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, said last night (Sunday) that he had traveled to Ukraine to meet with Chechen soldiers attacking Kyiv.

Chechen TV channel Grozny posted a video on its social media channel Telegram earlier on Sunday, in which Kadyrov was seen in a dark room discussing with Chechen soldiers in a military operation that they said took place 7 km from the Ukrainian capital.

The post did not clarify where and when the meeting took place, nor can Karirov’s statements be trusted if they are indeed true.

Kadyrov later mocked another post that cast doubt on whether he had traveled to the Kyiv region. “Why ‘if’? You did not see the video,” Kadyrov wrote in his official telegram account.

Kadyrov, who has repeatedly described himself as Putin’s “infantryman,” released videos of heavily armed Chechen soldiers in the Kyiv region as part of Russia’s invading force.
