The center said that, in coordination with the director of the Janzour District Prosecution, two teams of experts were assigned, the first from forensic doctors affiliated with the Abu Salim Forensic Medicine Office, and the second an engineering team from the Engineering Expertise Department. This is to move immediately to the spot.
The Center indicated that the Public Prosecution has initiated investigation procedures into the incident to determine the reasons that led to the collapse of the building and to identify the victims in order to refer them to forensic medicine to take technical action regarding them.
On Thursday night, the Janzour area witnessed the collapse of a three-story residential building. This morning, the Emergency Medicine and Support Center reported the recovery of 7 dead, noting that all the victims were expatriate workers.
The Ministry of Justice announced in a statement that forensic and engineering teams from the Center for Judicial Expertise and Research were heading to the site immediately after news of the collapse came.
For his part, the Prime Minister of the National Unity Government, Abdul Hamid Al-Dabaiba, announced, during a speech from the site of the incident, that the Ministry of Interior was assigned to investigate the incident of the building collapse, stressing the need to take retribution in the incident.

Time.news Editor: Good morning, and welcome to another insightful interview from Time.news. Today, we have with us Dr. Amina Saad, a leading expert in forensic engineering and a consultant for building safety assessments. Dr. Saad, thank you for joining us.
Dr. Amina Saad: Thank you for having me. It’s a pleasure to be here.
Editor: Recently, we saw a tragic incident in Janzour where a residential building collapsed. The Center for Judicial Expertise and Research announced that they are conducting an investigation under the instruction of the Minister of Justice. What are your initial thoughts on this urgent action?
Dr. Saad: It’s certainly a positive step forward. A rapid response from authorities is critical in situations like this to preserve evidence and ensure that a thorough investigation can be conducted. The collaboration between forensic doctors and engineering teams is particularly important, as it allows for a comprehensive understanding of both the human and structural implications of the collapse.
Editor: Speaking of collaboration, the forensic team and the engineering experts are working closely together. How important is this multidisciplinary approach when investigating building collapses?
Dr. Saad: It’s essential. Forensic experts can provide insights into the fatalities and injuries, while engineers can analyze the structural elements to determine why the building failed. This integrated approach not only helps identify the immediate causes of the collapse but also uncovers systemic issues that may prevail in construction practices or regulations.
Editor: The Public Prosecution has initiated investigation procedures to identify the victims and determine the reasons behind the collapse. What specific factors do you think they will be looking at?
Dr. Saad: Several key factors will be examined. First, the structural integrity of the building will be evaluated, including the materials used, design flaws, and compliance with building codes. Second, the investigation will likely consider external factors such as soil stability, environmental changes, and any signs of neglect or maintenance issues. Lastly, they will look into the timeline of construction and any previous complaints or reports regarding the building’s safety.
Editor: It sounds like a comprehensive approach is necessary. What can be learned from incidents like this to prevent future disasters?
Dr. Saad: Tragic events like this highlight the importance of regulatory enforcement and public awareness about building safety. It’s crucial for authorities to ensure compliance with codes and standards during construction and ongoing inspections. Furthermore, educating the public on signs of structural distress can empower residents to report potential issues before they escalate.
Editor: That’s very insightful, Dr. Saad. With advancements in technology, how do you think tools like predictive modeling and structural analysis software can contribute to preventing such incidents in the future?
Dr. Saad: Technology plays a vital role in enhancing safety. Predictive modeling can help engineers simulate how buildings will respond to various stresses over time. This allows for proactive measures to be taken in design and construction. Additionally, modern monitoring systems can provide real-time data on structural health, enabling timely interventions before a collapse occurs.
Editor: As we wrap up, what message would you like to share with officials and the public in light of this recent building collapse?
Dr. Saad: My message would be one of vigilance and collaboration. It’s essential for government officials to prioritize building safety and for citizens to engage with their communities to advocate for better practices. Together, we can work towards a future where such tragedies are prevented through awareness, accountability, and action.
Editor: Thank you, Dr. Amina Saad, for your valuable insights today. It’s crucial to highlight these discussions to foster a safer living environment for everyone.
Dr. Saad: Thank you for having me. It’s been a pleasure to share thoughts on such an important issue.
Editor: That’s it for today’s interview. Stay tuned to Time.news for more updates and insights on pressing topics that affect our society.
