Lawyers regularly mediate with bickering parents about corona vaccine child

by time news

Divorce lawyers regularly see parents bickering about administering the corona vaccine to their children. It led to a lawsuit at least nine times, EenVandaag reported following a survey.

The survey was conducted by the Dutch Association of Family and Inheritance Lawyers Divorce Mediators (vFAS), in collaboration with EenVandaag. A total of 316 lawyers were surveyed, of which almost a third (32 percent) received questions from parents who are debating how to vaccinate their children. About a quarter of the respondents (27 percent) even had to provide assistance through mediation.

Consent both parents

In the Netherlands, both parents must give permission for the corana vaccine to be administered to children up to the age of 12 – just like with other medical treatments. In short, this often leads to quarrels.

vFAS board member Saskia Braun: “Since the outbreak of corona, lawyers have seen the number of conflicts increase further. Where the vaccination conflicts usually took place between divorced couples, the research data shows that children themselves also come into conflict with their father or mother about vaccination and testing.”

Discussions about testing

According to Braun, there are even discussions about whether or not to have children tested. A lot of these conflicts are eventually resolved through mediation, but in at least nine cases the judge had to be involved, who can still decide to vaccinate or test.

It is unknown what the judges’ verdict was in the nine cases concerned. However, Joost Huijer, lecturer in family law at Utrecht University, previously told EenVandaag that his expectation is that judges will impose vaccination. “In previous lawsuits about vaccination against measles, polio or rubella you saw that judges followed the Health Council. I expect that they will do that again with corona,” said the teacher.
