BOLZANO. Sunday with very sunny weather and often clear skies. The morning mists in the Tures Valley will dissipate quickly. Rather low minimum temperatures, maximums between 11° in the Ladin valleys and 15° in Bassa Atesina. These are the forecasts from the weather service of the Province of Bolzano.
Very sunny weather is forecast for Monday. Clouds will arrive from the northwest in the evening. Some showers will be possible the following night and during Tuesday morning, especially in the western part of the province. Snow limit at 1400 m. In the afternoon, precipitation will generally be absent. On Wednesday the weather will be partly sunny with no precipitation. Alternation between sun and clouds is also expected for Thursday. Temperatures dropping further.
Forecasts in Italy. From next week rain, wind and snow. Goodbye to mild temperatures from Tuesday 12 November
The days of mild temperatures are numbered because rain, wind, snow in the hills and a widespread drop in temperature are expected in the next week. This is indicated by the forecasts of the meteorologist Mattia Gussoni, of the website www.iLMeteo.it, according to which from Tuesday 12 November “the Italian weather scenario will change completely”. A “still mild and partly sunny” weekend is expected, with highs of up to 25 degrees in Sardinia and Sicily, 23 degrees in Reggio Calabria and Taranto, 21 degrees in Rome and Naples. The first signs of change are however expected in the Po Valley with night fogs and rain in Sardinia and Sicily and locally along the Tyrrhenian coast. For Monday, a “slight drop in temperatures with moderate easterly winds” and more rain is expected in the South; for Tuesday a drop in maximum temperatures of 7-8 degrees and the first snowfalls above 1,400 meters are expected in the Alps and Apennines, a strengthening wind and the presence of two low pressure troughs, one in the South and one in the North. Wind, rain and snow are expected up to 1,200 meters above sea level in the northern regions on Wednesday and Thursday, locally also at lower altitudes. It is possible that the two low pressure areas present in the South and North meet over the Central Tyrrhenian Sea, causing ”strong wind storms” accompanied by “substantial rainfall”. In detail Saturday 9th: cloudy in the North with local fog; scattered clouds in the center, some rain along the Tyrrhenian coasts, showers in Sardinia; in the South scattered clouds with thunderstorms in Sicily. Sunday 10th: local fog in the North, prevailing sun; scattered clouds in the center, some showers in Sardinia; in the South scattered clouds with showers in Sicily. Monday 11th: local fog in the North, worsening from the afternoon; scattered clouds in the center, some showers in Sardinia; in the South scattered clouds with showers. (HANDLE).
Time.news Editor (TNE): Good morning, everyone! Today we have the pleasure of speaking with meteorologist Mattia Gussoni from iLMeteo.it, who is here to shed some light on the upcoming weather changes predicted for Italy. Welcome, Mattia!
Mattia Gussoni (MG): Thank you! It’s great to be here and discuss the fascinating world of weather with you.
TNE: Let’s dive right in. Your forecasts predict a significant shift in the weather starting next week. Can you elaborate on what people can expect?
MG: Absolutely! For the upcoming week, we’re seeing a transition from mild, partly sunny days to much cooler temperatures accompanied by rain, wind, and even snow in the hills. This change is forecasted to kick in on Tuesday, November 12th, so those still enjoying the warm weather should prepare for a transition.
TNE: Interesting! What about the regions that will be affected first by these changes?
MG: The Po Valley is expected to experience the first signs of change, with night fogs and rain arriving shortly. Regions like Sardinia and Sicily will also see localised rain, particularly along the Tyrrhenian coast. It’s a classic case of weather fronts moving southward disrupting the mild temperatures we’ve been experiencing.
TNE: For those who love sunny weather, what can they expect for the weekend leading up to this transition?
MG: This weekend will actually remain relatively mild and pleasant. Sardinia and Sicily could still see highs around 25 degrees Celsius, with Rome and Naples experiencing temperatures in the low 20s. However, as we move toward Monday, we anticipate a slight drop in temperatures and more rain, especially in the southern part of the country.
TNE: It sounds like the weather will be quite dynamic. What are the implications for outdoor activities, especially as we head into this shift?
MG: Yes, it will be quite dynamic! For those planning outdoor activities, I’d recommend taking advantage of the weekend for hiking or other outdoor events. Just keep an eye on the weather forecasts for Monday, as the rain and cooling temperatures may impact those plans. And once we hit Tuesday, outdoor enthusiasts should prepare for conditions that may include snow at higher elevations.
TNE: Speaking of snow, what can we anticipate in terms of snowfall levels?
MG: Snowfall is likely to begin above 1,400 meters, particularly in the northern regions. So, if you’re a skier or snowboarder, you might be thrilled by the prospect of fresh snowfall in the mountains. Just be cautious and monitor local advisories if you’re headed up to the slopes.
TNE: It’s always such a pleasure to gain insight from you, Mattia. Before we wrap up, is there anything else that residents and travelers in Italy should be aware of regarding this upcoming weather shift?
MG: Just that it’s essential to stay updated with reliable weather forecasts as this transition could affect transportation, particularly in mountainous areas, where conditions can change rapidly. Also, prepare for possible disruptions in plans because of wind and rain. It’s always better to be informed!
TNE: Thank you, Mattia, for your valuable insights! I’m sure our readers will appreciate the heads-up regarding the upcoming weather changes. We look forward to your next update!
MG: Thank you for having me! Stay safe and enjoy the season, everyone!
