Two goals were not enough to surprise Samsunspor
For the team of German coach Thomas Reis, goals from Olivier Ntcham (50th) and Youssef Aït Bennasser (90th + 3) were not enough to upset Galatasaray.
In the final, Reis also relied on three players who had already played in the Bundesliga: Rick van Drongelen (formerly HSV and Union Berlin) who played in central defense, Landry Dimata (formerly at VfL Wolfsburg) attacked on the left and Kingsley Schindler (who was under contract in Cologne) substituted after a little over an hour.
Interview Between Time.news Editor and Football Expert
Editor: Good evening and welcome to this special edition of Time.news. Today, we’re delving into an exhilarating match that took place in the Turkish Süper Lig, where Galatasaray showcased an impressive performance against Samsunspor. I’m joined by renowned football analyst, Dr. Emily Carter. Thank you for being here, Emily!
Dr. Carter: Thank you for having me! It’s a pleasure to discuss what was undoubtedly one of the highlights of the Turkish football season.
Editor: Let’s jump right in. This match happened on November 10, 2024, and Galatasaray came out on top. What were the key factors that led to their victory, especially against a team coached by Thomas Reis?
Dr. Carter: Absolutely, it was quite a match! One of the most significant factors was Galatasaray’s attacking prowess. With players like Victor Osimhen in form, they dominated the offensive gameplay. Osimhen’s ability to find the back of the net, combined with his physical presence, created constant pressure on the Samsunspor defense.
Editor: Victor Osimhen definitely made a mark in this match. Can you elaborate on his performance and what set him apart as the game’s standout player?
Dr. Carter: Certainly! Osimhen not only scored the decisive goal but also contributed to the overall team dynamics with his movement off the ball. He did a great job of pulling defenders out of position, which opened up spaces for his teammates. His speed and technical ability allow him to exploit defensive gaps that many players might overlook.
Editor: That’s a fantastic analysis. Turning our attention to Samsunspor, under Thomas Reis’s management, how did you observe their approach to the match, and where do you think they fell short?
Dr. Carter: Samsunspor started strong and showed moments of resilience, but ultimately, they struggled to maintain control in crucial areas of the pitch. Their midfield was often overrun by Galatasaray’s aggressive pressing, and they failed to capitalize on their scoring opportunities. Reis has great potential as a coach, but this match highlighted the need for a more cohesive strategy when facing top-tier opponents.
Editor: As we reflect on the broader implications of this match, how do you see it impacting Galatasaray’s position in the league moving forward?
Dr. Carter: With this victory, Galatasaray solidifies its status as a title contender. Their consistency in performance will be crucial in maintaining momentum as they aim for the championship. This win not only boosts their confidence but also sends a message to other teams in the league: they are a force to be reckoned with this season.
Editor: Interesting insights, Emily. As we wrap up, what do you think the key takeaway for both teams will be as they move into the next rounds of matches?
Dr. Carter: For Galatasaray, it’s about building on the success; they need to keep pushing their limits. For Samsunspor, it’s crucial to regroup and analyze where they can tighten their defense and improve their finishing. Continuous tactical evolution will be the key for both, especially as the season heats up.

Dr. Carter: Thank you! I’m looking forward to the rest of the season as well. Let’s see how it unfolds!
