Hamilton: Bangladesh and South Africa won the Women’s ODI Cricket World Cup. Bangladesh beat Pakistan by nine runs and South Africa beat England by three wickets. This is the first time Bangladesh has won the World Cup.

Batting first, Bangladesh scored 234 for seven. In reply, Pakistan were bowled out for 225 for nine.

This is Pakistan’s fourth consecutive defeat. Opener Sidra Amin (104 off 140 balls) scored a century but the team could not win. Nahida Khan (43 off 67 balls) and Sidra put on 91 runs for the opening wicket. Bisma Maroof (31 off 48 balls), Omaima Sohail (10) and Diana Baig (12) were the other notable contributors. The Pakistani women quickly collapsed from a strong 155 for two. Nida Dar, Alia Riyaz and Fatima Sana could not score. Sidra Amin was run out in the 48th over after being caught in the middle of the innings. Batting first against South Africa, England scored 235 for nine. In reply, South Africa reached the target with four balls to spare. Opener Laura Volvo (77 off 101 balls) was the winner.
