Just before the long-awaited premiere of the third season of Maestro on December 2, the cast and creator Christoforos Papakaliatis made an appointment for the premiere of the first episode at the National Gallery of Athens, and we were there!
Journalists, contributors and MEGA executives attended the premiere of the episode, with Christoforos Papakaliatis talking about the course of this successful production.
The first episode of the third season of Maestro reveals shocking new developments.
The Chief Content Officer of MEGA, Konstantinos Soussoulas, welcomed Christoforos Papakaliatis and the actors, expressing his joy at the international recognition of “Maestro”, the first Greek series acquired for worldwide distribution by Netflix. “It is a great honor to have this series on MEGA and for audiences around the world to watch it,” said Mr. Soussoulas.
Christoforos Papakaliatis, for his part, referred to his unique collaboration with the actors and the creation of a series that presents multiple perspectives through its characters. “I was lucky enough to work with amazing actors, and that gave me the opportunity to tell the story from different angles,” said the creator.
The dynamics of the characters and their emotional conflicts are captured in the third season of Maestro.
When asked if the third season will be the last, Christoforos Papakaliatis replied that although the characters are still very interesting, the time has come to rest and reflect on the sequel. “I need to calm down a bit and think about what’s to come,” he said, leaving open the possibility of a fourth season.
The third season of Maestro will premiere on Monday, December 2
What we saw in the first episode of the third season of “Maestro”
The first episode of the third cycle is divided into 7 subsections, each of which focuses on one of the characters, examining their experiences and emotional state, while at the same time explaining the events that led to it the dramatic finale. Each subsection is titled: “Unbeliever”, “Empty”, “56%”, “Flight Mode”, “The Army”, “The Festival” and “Ice Cream Ball”.
The story begins in Athens with two separations: Clelia’s decision to leave her abusive partner and the official divorce of Orestes and Alexandra (a divorce that ends 56% of marriages). Next, we move to Paxos, where the policeman Demosthenes Kouvas continues his investigation of the murderer of Charalambos. Antonis and Spyros, along with their parents, are determined to keep the truth hidden.
Therefore, one of the most shocking parts of the first episode of the third season is the gruesome scene of Clelia’s attempt to rape her partner. This emotionally charged scene opens up a dialogue about violence and manipulation in relationships.
In fact, Clelia Andriolatou, who plays the role of “Klelia”, then spoke about the meaning of the scene and the message she wants to convey. “The original idea was to capture another form of violence, manipulation, which is very common today. We built on that with Christopher. Many times you don’t understand what is happening to you in life and the balances in our lives are very delicate,” explained the actor.
The third season of Maestro opens with a shocking scene that brings to light the dark aspects of human relationships.
Another point that stood out concerns the heroine played by Stefania Goulioti. In two scenes (in the office and at the birthday dinner) she managed to perfectly combine despair with humor, giving depth to her character thanks to the clever script.
This was followed by a question and answer session with journalist Thodoris Koutsoyiannopoulos in the role of moderator, in which the actors shared personal moments from the filming and their feelings about the completion of the series.
The first two seasons of Maestro are already available on Netflix. The third season will be broadcast on MEGA on Monday, December 2. The remaining three episodes of the season will be shown back to back on Tuesday 3rd, Wednesday 4th and Thursday 5th December.
Interview Between Time.news Editor and Christoforos Papakaliatis, Creator of “Maestro”
Time.news Editor: Good afternoon, Christoforos! Thank you for joining us today. We’re all eagerly anticipating the premiere of the third season of “Maestro” on December 2. Can you tell us what we can expect from the first episode?
Christoforos Papakaliatis: Thank you for having me! The first episode is quite special; it’s divided into seven subsections, each focusing on the emotional experiences of different characters. It begins with two significant separations—Clelia leaving her abusive partner and Orestes officially divorcing Alexandra—which sets the stage for some dramatic developments.
Editor: That sounds intense. The emotional dynamics among the characters have always been a highlight of “Maestro.” Can you elaborate on what themes the new season will explore, particularly regarding these separations?
Christoforos: Absolutely. The series digs deep into themes of violence and manipulation in relationships, which are highlighted with Clelia’s storyline. That opening scene where she confronts this reality is meant to evoke a dialogue about the subtle forms of violence that people experience in their lives. It’s a delicate subject, and I aim to present it thoughtfully.
Editor: It’s refreshing to see such raw and relevant topics tackled in a TV series. You received praise at the premiere from MEGA’s Chief Content Officer regarding the international recognition of “Maestro.” How does it feel to see your work acclaimed on a global level?
Christoforos: It’s incredibly fulfilling. When I created “Maestro,” I hoped it would resonate not just with Greek audiences but also find its place internationally. Being the first Greek series to be acquired by Netflix for worldwide distribution is an amazing honor, and I feel proud to bring our stories to a broader audience.
Editor: You mentioned that the characters still feel vibrant and interesting to you. Do you have thoughts on whether this season will mark the end of “Maestro,” or could we expect a potential fourth season?
Christoforos: I find it hard to say definitively. While I really believe in the stories and the arcs of these characters, I also think it’s essential to pause and reflect. After writing this season, I may need some time to think deeply about what’s next. So, yes, there is a possibility of a fourth season, but it’s not set in stone yet.
Editor: It sounds like you’re approaching this season with thoughtfulness, which is vital in storytelling. Regarding the distinct subsections of the first episode, what motivated you to structure it that way?
Christoforos: Each subsection allows us to dive into the characters’ individual journeys and emotional states. By breaking it down—like “Empty,” “Flight Mode,” and “Ice Cream Ball”—viewers can connect with each character’s experience, gaining a deeper understanding of the overall narrative and the events leading to the dramatic finale.
Editor: That’s a brilliant approach. And I’m curious—how has the cast contributed to bringing these characters to life in this season?
Christoforos: I’ve been incredibly fortunate to work with such talented actors. They bring their own insights and perspectives into their roles, which enriches the storytelling. For instance, Clelia Andriolatou, who plays Clelia, has been instrumental in shaping the emotional authenticity of her character. Together, we explore these complexities and ensure that the nature of their experiences resonates deeply with our audience.
Editor: Before we conclude, what message would you like to share with your fans in anticipation of this new season?
Christoforos: I’d like to remind viewers that ”Maestro” is not just a series about drama and conflict; it’s also about healing, resilience, and understanding human nature. I hope that as they watch, they find a piece of their own stories reflected in our characters and feel inspired to engage with their own emotions and relationships.
Editor: Thank you, Christoforos, for sharing your insights and the upcoming season’s exciting aspects. We can’t wait for December 2 to see how it all unfolds!
Christoforos: Thank you! I appreciate your enthusiasm and can’t wait for everyone to experience the new season.
