CNC Revolution (CEO Jaesik Lee), a production company specializing in webtoons and web novels, announced on the 7th that it held a performance presentation on the training course for ‘genre webtoon specialized creators’ to pioneer the path of K-content operated by the ‘2024 Content Creative Talent Partnership Project’.
The genre webtoon-specialized creator course focuses on strengthening the multifaceted capabilities of trainees by applying content plotting techniques to webtoon creation, with the concept of ‘from creation to essence’.
With the goal of nurturing webtoon writers specializing in genres who can advance into the global market, we provided 1:1 apprenticeship-style mentoring, group education related to the webtoon industry, networking workshops, mock investment in works, and support for creating submission proposals for works. A total of 12 mentors participated, and the mentor group was divided into a writer mentor group and a producer mentor group, and a main mentor-submentor system was operated. Through this, mentees received mentoring from various perspectives and strengthened their expertise.
As a result, the course produced a total of 23 genre-focused webtoon writers. They produced three webtoon manuscripts that were ready for immediate submission, laying the foundation for launching the work. In particular, this process resulted in the production of excellent projects selected by the Korea Creative Content Agency.
The performance presentation was held in a job fair format, with key officials from 12 companies in the webtoon industry invited. Graduates were provided with the opportunity to present their work directly to officials and have it judged. An awards ceremony was also held for those who received excellent evaluations during this process.
Lee Jae-sik, CEO of CNC Revolution, said, “The genre webtoon-specialized creator course operated as a platform organization for the 2024 Content Creative Talent Partnership Project hosted by the Korea Creative Content Agency (Acting Director Yoo Hyun-seok) has been successfully completed.” He added, “We have been working hard for a short period of time.” “Thanks to the students’ hard work, we were able to successfully complete this course with meaningful results,” he said.
He continued, “We would like to express our gratitude to all the graduates who participated in the course, and we will continue to provide support in various ways so that they can continue their work.”

How do mentorship and workshops enhance the learning experience for webtoon writers?
Interview: The Future of Webtoons and Content Creation
Editor (Time.news): Welcome, Lee Jae-sik, CEO of CNC Revolution, and congratulations on the successful completion of your training course for genre webtoon specialized creators! Can you start by telling us a bit about what inspired you to develop this course?
Jaesik Lee: Thank you! The inspiration behind the course stemmed from a recognition of the immense potential in the webtoon industry, particularly as it expands globally. We wanted to create a program that not only enhances the skills of writers but also equips them with the tools to navigate this evolving market.
Editor: It sounds like a comprehensive program! You mentioned a focus on “multifaceted capabilities” through content plotting techniques. Can you elaborate on what that entails and how it benefits the creators?
Jaesik Lee: Absolutely. The course was built on the premise of “from creation to essence,” which means we guide creators through the fundamental aspects of storytelling while encouraging them to explore different genres. By enhancing their plotting techniques, writers can create more engaging narratives that resonate with diverse audiences. This is crucial, especially when appealing to a global market.
Editor: That makes perfect sense. You also provided 1:1 mentorship and workshops. How did this structure impact the learning experience for the trainees?
Jaesik Lee: The mentorship structure was key. By dividing our mentors into writers and producers, we ensured that trainees received specialized guidance. The main mentor-submentor system allowed for diverse insights, which enriched the learning process. Trainees were able to get feedback from multiple perspectives and ultimately strengthen their expertise.
Editor: It’s impressive that the course produced 23 genre-focused webtoon writers who created manuscripts ready for submission. Could you share some of the success stories or noteworthy projects that came out of this initiative?
Jaesik Lee: Certainly! Among the works produced, there are three standout manuscripts that have been recognized by the Korea Creative Content Agency. These projects have enormous potential, and we’re already exploring avenues to get them brought to life. The talent exhibited by the graduates truly exceeded our expectations.
Editor: The job fair format you utilized for the performance presentation sounds innovative. How did it facilitate opportunities for the participants?
Jaesik Lee: The job fair format allowed graduates to showcase their work directly to key industry players, which is invaluable. It gave them the chance to receive real-time feedback and even pitches their projects to potential investors. Networking in this way can lead to production deals and further career opportunities, which is what we aim for.
Editor: What are the next steps for the graduates, and how do you plan to support them as they venture into the webtoon industry?
Jaesik Lee: We’re committed to ongoing support. This includes potential introductions to publishers and continued mentorship, as well as resources for marketing their works. Our focus is on fostering an environment in which these new creators can thrive and establish themselves in the industry.
Editor: Lastly, how do you envision the future of webtoons in the global content landscape?
Jaesik Lee: I believe webtoons are only going to grow in popularity and influence. As storytelling evolves, the unique format and accessibility of webtoons position them perfectly to capture diverse audiences worldwide. Our goal is to nurture talent that can push this art form into new realms, bridging cultures and expanding the reach of K-content.
Editor: Thank you, Jaesik, for sharing these insights! It’s exciting to see the next generation of webtoon creators emerging, and we look forward to following their journeys.
Jaesik Lee: Thank you for having me! I’m excited to share what our graduates will achieve in the near future.
