On ‌November 16 and 17, a Parliamentary ⁢meeting will be⁣ held in Baku within the framework of the 29th session of ​the Conference of the ‌Parties to the ⁤UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), jointly organized⁣ by the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Milli ‍Majlis (parliament) of the⁤ Republic of Azerbaijan.

It‌ was noted that‍ the event, which will be joined by 92 delegations from ‍66⁣ countries‍ and international organizations, up to 330 participants, is ⁤expected⁤ to be attended by 167 members of parliament, led by 12 ‌speakers and vice-speakers.

Sessions at ⁣the⁣ Parliamentary Assembly will ⁣discuss the real-world impacts of climate change,‍ the role of parliaments in strengthening ambitious mitigation measures to make ⁢climate commitments a reality and making specific contributions at the ⁤national level, developing a‍ global​ climate⁢ finance architecture, building climate resilience , promoting a comprehensive and equitable ⁤approach to this​ area, using⁣ technology‌ to combat ‌climate change‍ and ensure equitable access, efforts to ensure‍ health and food safety in a changing climate, managing human displacement⁢ and climate change and other ​topics, the ‌final document will be‍ adopted.

A number of bilateral meetings ‍are also planned to be held as part of the event.
