In Tamil Nadu and Kerala, officials of the Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Surveillance have been conducting raids on the house of former minister SB Velumani and 58 places related to him since this morning. This is the second trial in the Velumani affair.
The test is also being conducted at his home in the milestone area of Coimbatore. The Anti-Corruption Department said that the investigation was being carried out on the basis of a complaint lodged by the Anti-Corruption Directorate Analyst Ezhilarasi on the basis of credible information.
Why the test?
The first information report said that Velumani, who was the Home Minister of Tamil Nadu from 2016 to 2021, had used his power to illegally amass assets.
Under the Anti-Corruption Act, former Minister S.P. Velumani, his brother Anparasan, Hemalatha Anparasan, cousin Chandrasekaran and 10 friends and 3 private companies have been booked by the Anti-Corruption Department. These tests are being conducted on that basis.
Various scams have also taken place by companies started in the name of Velumani and his relatives. It is said that this has added assets worth crores of rupees, including jewelery.
Police officers raided the homes of MLAs
In Coimbatore, not only the house of former minister SB Velumani, but also the house of Singanallur legislators K Jayaraman, Vadavalli Chandrasekhar, former legislators Ettimalai Shanmugam and Rajendran and their premises are being raided by the Anti-Corruption Department. Food for supporters – Expired drinking water?
His supporters rallied in front of Velumani’s house following the raid. Food was arranged for them. Breakfast tea, pongal, kichadi and rose milk were served. In the afternoon sambar rice is served. Some have also expressed dissatisfaction as the expiration date was mentioned on the drinking water bottle provided in the area.
In August and September last year, anti-bribery officers raided the homes and offices of former minister Velumani, his relatives, partners and friends in Chennai, Coimbatore and Dindigul districts.
