Michael Dale Huckabee, a well-known pro-Israel politician, has been appointed US Ambassador to Israel. Huckabee is a Republican conservative politician, former governor of Arkansas, and pastor of a Baptist church.
He is a vocal supporter of Israel and has expressed doubts about nuclear negotiations with Iran. He previously suggested rethinking the approach to fighting ISIS, arguing that the goal should not be to contain Islamist extremists, but to destroy them completely.
Huckabee, as part of an international delegation, visited Israel to see the consequences of the tragic events of October 7 in Kibbutz Kfar Aza and in the south of the country. He noted that what he saw surpassed all his imagination, calling it “the unimaginable horror that people went through.”
“No person should ever be subjected to the level of cruelty and savagery that the people of Israel experienced. I want the whole world to understand what happened here and who did it,” he said.
Michael Huckabee said he hopes US policy will continue to be firmly supportive of Israel. During the Barack Obama administration, he sharply criticized restrictions on settlement construction, accusing the then US leadership of “abandoning Israel.”

What are the key responsibilities of the U.S. Ambassador to Israel?
Interview Between Time.news Editor and Michael Dale Huckabee, US Ambassador to Israel
Time.news Editor (TNE): Thank you for joining us today, Ambassador Huckabee. Your appointment as the U.S. Ambassador to Israel is generating a lot of buzz. How does it feel stepping into this pivotal role at such a crucial time?
Michael Dale Huckabee (MDH): Thank you for having me. It’s an incredible honor and a profound responsibility. The U.S.-Israel relationship is one of the most important alliances we have, and I’m excited to foster that connection further, especially during these complex geopolitical times.
TNE: You have a long history of supporting pro-Israel policies. Can you share some of your thoughts on how this perspective will shape your actions as ambassador?
MDH: Absolutely. My stance has always been clear: Israel is not just an ally; it’s a bastion of democracy in a region where such values are often challenged. I believe in advocating for policies that secure Israel’s right to defend itself. My role will encompass not only diplomatic engagement but also enhancing economic ties, fostering cultural exchange, and advocating for Israel’s interests on global platforms.
TNE: With recent events in the region, including heightened tensions with neighboring countries, what steps do you see as immediate priorities for your administration?
MDH: One of my main priorities will be to promote dialogue. I’ll work to strengthen Israel’s security partnerships with neighboring states while addressing humanitarian concerns in a balanced manner. It’s crucial to build bridges to ensure stability while ensuring Israel’s security needs are met.
TNE: Your appointment also raises questions about the U.S. stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. What approach do you envision taking toward a potential peace process?
MDH: We cannot ignore the complexities of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. My approach will be rooted in dialogue and mutual understanding. The goal is to build pathways for peace that respect Israel’s sovereignty while also addressing the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people. This will require patience and a concerted effort to bring all parties to the table.
TNE: As ambassador, how do you plan to engage with the American Jewish community and other stakeholders who are passionate about Israel?
MDH: Engaging with the American Jewish community is fundamental. I believe in open lines of communication. I plan to host forums, town hall meetings, and discussions where we can hear varying perspectives. It’s vital that representatives of all communities have a voice in policy discussions that impact Israel and U.S.-Israel relations.
TNE: Social media and technology play a significant role in shaping public perception today. How do you intend to utilize these platforms in your diplomatic efforts?
MDH: Social media is a double-edged sword, but it can be a powerful tool for diplomacy. I aim to use these platforms to tell Israel’s story authentically, counter misinformation, and share the positive developments and democratic values Israel embodies. Engaging younger generations in meaningful conversations about Israel is key as well.
TNE: what is your vision for U.S.-Israel relations over the next few years?
MDH: My vision is a strong, resilient partnership that adapts to the evolving geopolitical landscape. I want to see deeper security ties, economic cooperation, and cultural exchanges that build lasting friendships between our two nations. Together, we can address the challenges we face, become a model for peace, and enhance stability in the region.
TNE: Thank you, Ambassador Huckabee, for sharing your insights with us. We look forward to following your journey in this essential role.
MDH: Thank you for having me. I appreciate the opportunity to share my vision, and I look forward to working with everyone invested in a secure and peaceful future for both Israel and the United States.
