In a speech read on his behalf by the Director of Civil Affairs and Legal and Judicial Professions, Rachid Wadifi, on the occasion of the launch of the tripartite program “MA-JUST”, the Minister indicated that this partnership aims to achieve a effective and transparent justice, contributing to the strengthening of social and economic stability, the attraction of investments and the consolidation of Morocco’s place as a global investment and business destination.
He underlined, in this sense, that the Ministry of Justice has attached paramount importance to strengthening its strategic partnership linking it to the EU and the Council of Europe, leading to the launch of several concrete programs and projects aimed at develop judicial infrastructure and the qualification of executives, in accordance with a global vision of reform aimed at supporting transformations on the international and regional scenes, as well as strengthening the pioneering status of the Kingdom in the field of justice and rights of Man.
This partnership represents a political commitment reflecting the vision of building a modern State based on justice and equity, and based on a comprehensive approach including the modernization of judicial infrastructure, the expansion of digital services and the strengthening international cooperation mechanisms in matters of justice, argued the minister.
Co-financed by the EU and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe, the “MA-JUST” project aims to strengthen the efficiency and quality of justice by relying on the instruments and Council of Europe standards, tools and methods of the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ) and European good practices to improve the functioning of courts and the quality of the judicial process.
This two-day meeting aims to present the work, the methodology used and the tools developed by the CEPEJ in order to make justice more efficient and accessible, as well as the key steps for their implementation in Moroccan courts in within the MA-JUST project, consider with partners possible courses of action to strengthen actions in the courts concerned and allow the deployment of these tools at the national level in the medium term.
The program of this meeting includes several sessions and round tables focused on essential themes for the improvement of the Moroccan judicial system, such as the quality of justice, judicial time management, collection and management of statistics, as well as the use of cyberjustice and artificial intelligence.
The discussions also focus on the current challenges of the Moroccan judicial system, paying particular attention to citizens’ confidence in justice, access to justice, the digitalization of justice and ongoing reforms.
