Cargo traffic in the port of Santander grew between January and October this year by 4.3% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 6,036,096 tonnes.

The Port of Santander achieved, in the period between January and October this year, a traffic of 6,036,096 tonnes, which is 4.3% more than the same period of the previous year and the best cycle in the history of the port in terms of total traffic.
For its part, the interannual traffic figure – from November 2023 to October 2024 – stood at 7,236,695 tonnes, 5.5% more than the same period of the previous year, exceeding, once again, the consolidation target of seven million marked by Santander Port Authority (APS) for this year.
Of the traffic accumulated between January and October, the main data is the growth of general goods, which, with 3,108,980 tonnes, exceeds the data obtained in the same period of 2023 by 30%. This type of traffic currently represents more than half of the operated from the Port with 51.5%, against 45.9% for solid bulk and 2.6% for liquid bulk.
Also noteworthy is the increase in container traffic, which stood at 127,306 TEU (20-foot containers) between January and October, 202.9% more than in the same period in 2023, when 42,029 were registered.
Furthermore, passenger traffic also increased by 8.9%, going from 230,987 in the period we are analyzing, from 2023 to 251,526 in 2024.
