19 years of kimchi sharing… Delivering warmth to a total of 20,000 households
Daewon Pharmaceutical announced on the 18th that it practiced sharing with the community by holding the ‘2024 19th Kimchi Sharing of Love’ event at the plaza in front of Seongdong-gu Office in Seoul on the 17th. This event was designed to support vulnerable groups, such as seniors living alone and child heads of households, through the winter.
Daewon Pharmaceutical’s ‘Kimchi Sharing of Love’ is a representative social contribution activity that started in 2006. In this event, about 200 people, including employees, family members, and Red Cross volunteers, participated and made 6,000 kg of kimchi. The completed kimchi will be delivered to 600 vulnerable households in Seongdong-gu. So far, 80 tons of kimchi has been delivered to more than 20,000 households through this event.
Baek In-hwan, CEO of Daewon Pharmaceutical, said, “Thanks to the warm weather this year, the event went smoothly. “I hope that the kimchi made with the sincerity of many people will warm up the winter of our neighbors just a little bit,” he said.
The event was attended by figures from all walks of life, including Daewon Pharmaceutical President Baek In-hwan, Vice President Kim Joo-il, and Vice President Kim Yeon-seop, as well as Korean Red Cross Seoul Branch Secretary-General Heo Hye-sook, Seongdong-gu Office Mayor Jeong Won-o, and Seongdong-gu Council Chairman Nam Yeon-hee.
Heo Hye-sook, Secretary General of the Seoul Branch of the Korean Red Cross, said, “Daewon Pharmaceutical has consistently supported kimchi for the underprivileged in Seongdong-gu for 19 years. “Thank you for being a great help to our neighbors,” he said.
In addition to sharing kimchi, Daewon Pharmaceutical is carrying out various sharing activities in which employees directly participate, such as ‘Daewon Harmony’, a concert to improve awareness of people with developmental disabilities, ‘Beautiful Day’, a reusable product donation campaign, and making bread of love and sharing briquettes.
An official from Daewon Pharmaceutical expressed their willingness to share, saying, “We will continue to engage in various activities with the local community to fulfill our social responsibilities.”
