Under the leadership of Moroza, RFS won the Latvian championship this season, triumphed in the Latvian Cup and reached the group stage of the European League, in which points were taken away from the Turkish club “Galatasaray” from Istanbul and the Belgian team “Anderlecht”.
“I can reveal that we just negotiated to extend the contract for another two years,” said Milov, adding that together with the existing contract, it provides that Morozs could manage the club until the end of 2027.
“As I spoke to him, we don’t need a contract as such. It’s more of a formal thing that is needed so that we don’t think that the contract ends in a year and needs to be extended. It’s important for me that we can tell the players that Viktor will be here for three more years. Something can change, but our wish is that he will work here for another three years,” continued the club president.
Milov also revealed that Moroz occasionally receives offers from foreign clubs as well.
“We talked about this with him, how attractive the offer must be for him to leave. There is no clear answer, because everything changes, but if we talk about [Eiropas] For “Top 5″ leagues, it goes without saying. Everything that is in between needs to be looked at very specifically,” Milov explained.
Morozs became the head coach of RFS in February 2020, until then, since December 2019, he was the assistant of head coach Valdas Dambrauskas at the club.
Under his leadership, RFS took second place in the Latvian Championship in 2020, and in 2021, they lifted both the Latvian Champions Trophy and the Latvian Cup. In 2022, RFS settled for third place, but regained the Latvian championship title last year.
