Data for Tuesday 15 March. The positivity rate rises to 14.5% with 587,015 swabs. Admissions: +5. Intensive care: -16

I’m 85.288
the new cases of Covid in Italy (yesterday there were 28,900, here the bulletin). It goes up like this at least 13.489.319
the number of people who have contracted the SARS-CoV-2 virus (including recovered and died) since the outbreak began. THE deaths today I’m 180
(yesterday 129), for a total of 157,177 victims from February 2020.

People recovered or discharged they are altogether 12.296.018 e 53.349 those that have become negative in the last 24 hours (yesterday 25,834). The positive current – the subjects who have the virus – turn out to be in everything 1.036.124equal to +32.885 compared to yesterday (+3.735 the day before).

The swabs and the scenario

I total swabs (molecular and antigenic) were 587.015, or 382,138 more than yesterday when it was 204,877. The positivity rate rises to 14.5% (the approximation of 14.53%); yesterday it was 14.1%.

More infections in 24 hours than yesterday. The curve is expected to be at the weekly peak of its swing today. The rising trend and you can see it from the comparison with last Tuesday (March 7), when they were recorded +60,191 almost with a rate of 11.3%: today, in fact, there are more new infections than that day, with a higher percentage (14.5% against 11.3%). The gap of over 25 thousand new cases more than on March 7 (also counting the previous 1,137 in Sicily) and looking at the graph of the curve, today’s surge is evident.

As mentioned in recent days, even a year ago, in March 2021, there was an increase in infections after the second wave (October 2020-January 2021), but already in April 2021 the scenario was improving . There is one thing to clarify about today’s data: in general, when more swabs are made, the ratio of cases on tests tends to decrease, while the fact that now with over 500,000 analyzes this does not happen (the highest percentage of yesterday) doesn’t seem like a good sign.

The Lazio has a 5-digit increase in new infected: there was no region above 10 thousand cases in 24 hours from mid-February (see the data of February 8), with the difference that at the time the trend was downward. Lazio reports +10,562 cases with a 15.4% rate calculated on 68,370 samples examined. Lombardy follows with +9,540 cases with a 10.4% rate on 91,356 analyzes, which is the highest number of regional tests of the day.

The victims

There are 180 victims in the bulletin against 129 yesterday. Only the Valle d’Aosta has zero bereavement, while the highest number of deaths in Tuscany (27).

The health system

Ordinary hospitalizations increase slightly and those in resuscitation decrease. The beds occupied in ordinary Covid wards I’m +5 (yesterday +228), for a total of 8,473 hospitalized. The beds occupied in intensive care (TI) are -16 (yesterday +2) – this is the balance between the people who left and those who entered ICU -, bringing the total of the most seriously ill patients to 502with 51 admissions to resuscitation (yesterday 32).
