The former participant of the reality show “A Fazenda”, Ana Paula Minerato, 33 years old, was accused of racism early this Monday. In an audio released by her, the former makes a series of racist comments against the singer Ananda, from the group Melanina Carioca. After the accusation, Ana Paula was removed from her position as muse of Gaviões da Fiel, a samba school in São Paulo, and is no longer part of the band’s group of collaborators.
In the recordings, the model talks to rapper Kt Gomez, and questions whether he ended up with Ananda. In the conversation allegedly attributed to Ana Paula, she would use offensive terms to refer to the artist’s hair and skin.
Due to the impact of the audio and racist statements, Ana Paula lost her job as muse at Gaviões da Fiel, which, in 2025, will bring the Afro theme to the avenue. At Banna, she was employed since 2015 and worked as a host of a daily program on Band FM radio.
“The band strongly rejects any form of racism, discrimination or prejudice. The statements of Ana Paula Minerato, although personal, are not aligned with the values and guidelines of the broadcaster. For this reason, the employee was dismissed from the company ”, it was reported.
The model and influence Ana Paula Minerato, 33, was called on television as “panicat” on the program “Pânico”. The influence was also cast in two editions of the reality show “A Fazenda”, and was second in “A Fazenda 8”, losing the title to Douglas Sampaio. After that, she returned to the program in “A Fazenda Nova Chance”, becoming the eighth person to be evicted.
Ana Paula Minerato has a fight with her mother and her sister, Tati Minerato. The two fought in 2019, due to an argument. Ana Paula and Tati do not speak to each other, and Sylvia Minerato, her mother, would have protected Tati. On social media, the sister spoke out about the accusation against Ana Paula.
“Today I came to speak out about a situation that left me very sad and shaken. First of all, I want to make it clear that I am completely against any form of racism or prejudice. These attitudes do not match the values that I carry and that are part of my history!
However, taking into account what happened to my sister, Ana Paula Minerato, I must say, as much as the love for my family cannot be denied, I cannot and should not be associated with attitudes which is not in line with what I believe in it. I deeply regret this episode and I reiterate that I have never supported or will support any attitude that ignores or attacks another person.
My commitment will always be to build a future where respect, inclusion and equality are inalienable values. This is how I live and how I want to continue my journey, in samba and in all areas of my life.”

How can public figures better navigate their influence on social issues like racism?
Interview between Time.news Editor and Racism and Media Expert Dr. Mariana Torres
Editor: Welcome, Dr. Torres! Thank you for joining us today to discuss the recent controversy surrounding Ana Paula Minerato and the audio recordings that have sparked accusations of racism against her.
Dr. Torres: Thank you for having me. It’s an important topic that needs to be addressed with care and consideration.
Editor: Absolutely. To start off, could you summarize what happened with Ana Paula Minerato for our readers?
Dr. Torres: Certainly. Ana Paula Minerato, a former reality show contestant and model, was recorded making derogatory remarks about Ananda, a singer from the group Melanina Carioca. The audio, which surfaced recently, featured Ana Paula using offensive terms related to Ananda’s hair and skin color. As a result, she was swiftly removed from her role as a muse for the Gaviões da Fiel samba school in São Paulo and dismissed from her job at Band FM radio, where she had worked since 2015.
Editor: It’s quite shocking, especially given the strong response from her employers. Gaviões da Fiel stated they do not condone racism in any form. What does this say about the industry’s stance on discrimination?
Dr. Torres: It reflects a growing awareness and intolerance of racism within the media and entertainment sectors. Organizations are increasingly held accountable for their affiliations, and the consequences for discriminatory remarks or behaviors are more pronounced. This incident serves as a reminder that public figures, especially in the entertainment realm, are expected to uphold certain values, particularly in an inclusive society.
Editor: In your opinion, how does this incident influence the broader conversation about racism and representation in media?
Dr. Torres: It’s a double-edged sword. On one hand, it highlights the persistent issue of racism that many individuals face, particularly in the performance arts. On the other hand, it opens the floor for vital discussions about the representation of marginalized groups in media. The backlash against Ana Paula’s comments signals to society that we are no longer willing to tolerate prejudice and discrimination. It creates space for dialogues around how we portray and empower artists from diverse backgrounds.
Editor: Ana Paula’s past as a “panicat” on the television show “Pânico” and her participation in reality shows like “A Fazenda” has placed her in the public eye for years. How do such platforms shape public figures’ perceptions and actions?
Dr. Torres: Reality television often blurs the lines between persona and reality. Participants like Ana Paula are shaped by producers’ narratives, and this can lead to a form of entitlement or a disconnect with the realities faced by others. However, it also grants them significant influence. This duality can embolden public figures to speak without considering the impact of their words, which can inadvertently perpetuate harmful stereotypes.
Editor: You mentioned that her sister, Tati Minerato, also spoke out against Ana Paula following the accusation. How do family dynamics complicate public controversies like this?
Dr. Torres: Family dynamics, particularly in high-stress situations such as public controversies, can amplify tensions and lead to fracturing relationships. Tati and Ana Paula’s history of conflict adds a layer of complexity to the situation. When personal relationships intertwine with public scrutiny, it creates a situation where loyalty and accountability may clash, making it harder for individuals to navigate their responses in healthy ways.
Editor: Given this surge of attention and the swift consequences Ana Paula faced, what message do you think this sends to other public figures?
Dr. Torres: It sends a strong message that accountability is paramount. Public figures are tasked with representing their communities, and with that comes the responsibility to act in ways that are not harmful to others. The repercussions faced by Ana Paula serve as a deterrent, encouraging individuals to think carefully about their words and actions, knowing they can have serious implications both personally and professionally.
Editor: Thank you, Dr. Torres, for your insights on this pressing issue. It’s crucial that we continue to have these conversations to foster a more inclusive media landscape.
Dr. Torres: Thank you for addressing such an important topic. Open dialogues are the first step toward real change.
