Pinker, a new TVDE platform that will come into force in the coming days, aims to provide women with security when they request a vehicle, which will be driven exclusively by women, project founder Mónica Faneco told Lusa.
The new electronic transportation platform in unmarked vehicles assumes that the main difference compared to its competitors operating in Portugal, Uber and Bolt, is that it accepts only female drivers and is for the exclusive use of women.
“We want to give women security and confidence in our services, as an alternative to what already exists”, explained Mônica Faneco, refusing to qualify the service of the applications already operating in terms of security.
The Pinker operation will start “at the end of this week, the beginning of next week”, said Mónica Faneco, refusing to reveal the exact day the platform will go on the road, first in Lisbon, to expand to the city of Porto. and other places.
However, with the arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic, the idea matured ”and it helped to have things well structured”, until this year the challenge had the ‘time’ to go ahead.
“It is a 100% Portuguese application, which was not easy to create from the beginning, it required a lot of investment, but we managed to deal with everything in a calm and calm way to set it up”, said the business woman.
Although the application is dedicated to the female universe, which has “great acceptance” considering pre-registrations on the platform, for both users and drivers, Mónica Faneco said that male feedback is also being “very good” .
”Men have daughters and wives, so they tell me it’s a very good alternative because it’s aimed at a female audience and only has female drivers,” he explained.
Mónica Faneco also mentioned that Pinker is already licensed in Portugal and Europe, and that ”there are more than a thousand interested drivers”.
To date, six years after the entry into force of the law, published in the Diário da República in August 2018, which regulates the activity of TVDE, there are two platforms working in Portugal: Uber and Bolt.
How does Pinker ensure the safety and comfort of its users compared to traditional ride-sharing services?
Interviewer: Welcome to Time.news! Today, we’re diving into an exciting development in the transportation sector—a new platform called Pinker, designed specifically for women. Joining us is Mónica Faneco, the founder of Pinker. Thank you for being here, Mónica!
Mónica Faneco: Thank you for having me! I’m excited to share more about Pinker with you.
Interviewer: Pinker is set to launch very soon. Can you tell us about the inspiration behind this innovative service?
Mónica Faneco: Absolutely! Our main goal with Pinker is to provide women with a safer and more confident travel option. The idea came from recognizing the concerns many women have when using traditional ride-sharing services like Uber and Bolt. We wanted to create an alternative that prioritizes their safety and comfort.
Interviewer: That’s a fantastic initiative. So, what sets Pinker apart from these existing services?
Mónica Faneco: The main difference is that Pinker will only feature female drivers, and the service is exclusively for women passengers. We believe this creates a more secure environment where women can feel comfortable during their journeys. We want to cultivate a sense of community and trust among our users.
Interviewer: That’s a unique approach. You mentioned safety as a crucial aspect. Can you elaborate on how Pinker ensures a secure experience for its users?
Mónica Faneco: Certainly! While I don’t wish to critique existing services directly, I believe that by having both female drivers and female passengers, we inherently lower the risks associated with ride-sharing. The design of our platform includes features that allow users to feel more in control of their ride experience, from driver information to ride tracking.
Interviewer: It sounds like you’ve put a lot of thought into the user experience. Can users anticipate any special features when they use the Pinker app?
Mónica Faneco: Yes, we are working on a few exciting features! First, we plan to launch a user-friendly app that will not only allow passengers to book rides easily but will also enable them to connect with each other. We want to foster a supportive community while ensuring a seamless transportation experience.
Interviewer: That sense of community could be really empowering. Given the challenges that women face in transportation, what kind of feedback have you received from potential users about Pinker?
Mónica Faneco: The response has been incredibly positive! Many women express a strong desire for a service tailored to their needs, and they appreciate the focus on safety. Women have shared stories about their experiences with other ride-hailing services, reinforcing our belief that Pinker is needed in the current market.
Interviewer: Exciting times ahead! When exactly can we expect to see Pinker hit the roads?
Mónica Faneco: We are aiming to launch at the end of this week or very early next week. While I can’t provide an exact date just yet, we are working hard to get everything in place for a successful launch.
Interviewer: We’ll be eagerly watching for that! Before we wrap up, what message do you want to send to women considering using Pinker?
Mónica Faneco: I want women to know that with Pinker, they can feel safe and supported. Our mission is to create a space where they can enjoy their rides without worrying about their security. We believe every woman deserves to travel confidently.
Interviewer: Thank you so much, Mónica. It’s been a pleasure chatting with you about Pinker. We look forward to its launch and the positive impact it will have on women’s transportation!
Mónica Faneco: Thank you! I appreciate the opportunity to share our vision, and I can’t wait for everyone to experience Pinker!
